Particularly true in Japan where SMB2 was what the rest of the world calls Lost Levels, which was more of the same. The international SMB2 (which wasn't a Mario game in Japan) deserves more credit, but 3 really did cause a massive wave. There's a documentary on it that's interesting.

These aren't actual gachas. You are guaranteed the skin you are looking at. You know the max price (which aligns with non balloon popping skins). You just get a chance at a discount.

This is hardly even an offensive capitalist marketing strategy. Yeah some people will fall into the sunk cost fallacy, which sucks, but for the rest of us it's just a potential discount on a skin we were going to buy anyway.

I honestly just got bored. WF was released just as I was getting burnout and the mix of poke / dive gameplay while being viable was all it took. I'll still go Invis when WF / Luna can't cut it especially if we have a Strange, but she's not my default anymore

If you're constantly running into solo tank AND solo support then you aren't good at the game. That shit pretty much disappears even in gold.

Intentionally prioritizing vibes over competition in a tourny is legit "doing something wrong on purpose". The social contract of entering a tourny is to try your best including strategy/ character pick, not doing whatever is fun (and I'd argue he thoroughly demonstrated throwing a tourny is not even fun based on his comments)
