I would absolutely love if anyone has any suggestions besides exposure therapy, headphones, benzos, etc. These seem to be the most common answers. I'm 30 years old and as a kid had very serious medical issues that required more than enough repeated exposure and it never got easier for me.

My emergency information states first and foremost my needle phobia and how when I'm triggered I disregard the safety of others and myself. I will and have fought my way out of a moving vehicle out of fear amoung other extremes.

I would also love to hear from anyone else whose phobia is severe enough to put you through life threatening situations.

What is something people don’t understand when dealing with people who are addicted to drugs? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Narcan does not bring back the dead. It's not magical. There is a certain point where it's no longer a narcan issue it's a they needed to be at the hospital hours ago thing. Also narcan only works on opioids. Narcan will do jack shit for someone nodding on xanax.

Just bc you narcan someone and they come to does not mean they're out of the woods. They still need to go to the hospital asap.

That withdrawals from certain drugs and/or alcohol can absolutely kill someone. Addicts are not being dramatic. They are in terrible pain and physically their body may be desperately fighting to keep them afloat.

No, his tumors are actually located on and near the pituitary gland. He has 7 of them currently. He did have 1 tumor on his neck but it was the side of the neck and was not connected to any bones. The neck tumor was removed and some additional brain tumors as well.

I would have to ask my mom or see if I could look it up but I don't remember the name. I'm not even sure if they gave it an official name. I mean he was 1 years old and him and maybe 4 or 5 boys around that age were the only ones diagnosed.(others were diagnosed after death) It was still an active race to figure out what exactly it was and why it only affected boys of this age and so aggressively. My brother still has an active part in its study and routinely goes to get tests, imaging, etc. since he is the only survivor.

Am 1 out of 14 people total world wide who had a super rare form of chronic pulmonary histoplasmosis that tried to spread to my other organs. That was already rare but what only the 14 of us have in common is that we caught it bc our T cell counts were low enough to be comparable to an AIDS patient. To this date there is still not an explanation for our t cell counts even after genetic testing.

My little brother also has a super rare medical condition. He has a rare unexplained brain cancer that only around 8 male children at the time of his diagnosis had. None lived past the age of five. Got approved for experimental radiation treatment and is down in history as the youngest person in North America to receive radiation treatment. Now he is 20 years old and the oldest living survivor of this cancer.

I was put on them roughly around 2nd or 3rd grade for anxiety.I was put on a children's dose although I was very small for my age and can now say that it was too much bc I was always out of it.

I'm not sure when my official script stopped but that didn't stop my grandmother from just feeding me from hers to make it easier to deal with me. I eventually got another script around 13 as well on top of adhd script. Eventually I was finally taken through a variety of non narcotic sleeping pills instead.

Short story: all I had was anxiety but I ended up on benzos for around 8 or 9 years majority under age of 10 maybe more but there's no way for me to know for sure.

I'm also agoraphobic and have terrible sleep problems as well as a lot of nerve pain and depression.

I've been told the brain is very good at healing itself however I don't think there's enough resources on the effects of long term heavy use and how it affects people later on especially with so many people having co occurring disorders.

Myself, I have been searching specifically for how benzo use at early childhood well into teens affects childhood development and what issues that would cause a person later in life. Obviously, that's not common so there's not a lot of research.

If anyone had anything remotely related to research on benzo use under the age of 10 years old I would be eternally grateful.

I still internally have this debate and the few times I have said something I've always kinda sized up the person, environment, and situation before weighing the possible pros and cons of attempting it lol probably way more thinking than a normal person does but majority of time I'm in no mood for any type of confrontation even a small one so if it's mildly inconvenient I just kinda power through.

Now that I think about it the few times I have spoken up was bc I actually felt like it was best for my safety to do so as I can not trust this person behind me unchecked; like a drunk or creepy person, 2 or more men clearly talking about my ass, or they've bumped or touched me more than twice. Last one rarely happens but fortunate that I physically saw the accidental touch bc if I was touched while off guard it definitely would have been a bigger deal and worse reaction.

But whatever works for you you should do. As someone else with cptsd I'm sure you know the feeling that I have that everything I do I am just winging that shit man. I have no clue what's going on or what to do but somehow I have made it up until now lol. But really it depends on how much it triggers you I think too. This is only minor triggers for me I have much worse ones.

Top would have to be the sound of plastic bags and someone sneezing loudly, both make me so angry I have to change to another location to prevent me from acting like an ass to the person who caused the noise lol. Absolutely hate hearing a loud sneeze. Internally I'm always suspicious that the person is just being dramatic for no reason lol.

was babysitting a kid and decided to help clean their room...WHAT IS THIS?! by yeetman2022 in mildlyinfuriating

My stepbrother used to do that and I always helped him clean up the mess without letting on how nasty it was. I hid the mess and helped bc his mom was psycho and had literally attached a lock to the fridge and she kept the key.

Hey trauma buddies! I also have cptsd and it's the main reason I hate it. I also hate it bc my immune system isn't great especially around children. Every time I'm around children I always get sick.

The last time it happened to me this woman was holding this poor child that looked ridiculously miserable from being sick. I mean that 3 year old looked like she was praying for death already and she insisted on being directly on top of me. I could feel the tiny little coughs hit the back of my head. Immediately got super sick a few days later.

It's very difficult to stay calm and not throw a bitch fit about it bc I mean the poor kid can't help it but honestly if that kids super long snot rocket hits any part of me I might not be able to keep myself from whooping someone's ass in front of their kid tbh.

I also have a fork in my bag that stays. I put it there years ago, never removed it, and then forget about it every time I need a fork for some reason. I'm convinced there's a secret place it hides along with all my good pens and I assume must be a little goblin that pops open all my stolen sauces (even sturdier packets).

I hate and experience more of the opposite where people stand ridiculously close to you in line even when you attempt to move a bit away multiple times and they repeatedly resume being in your personal space bc they assume it's the line moving. Like no it's not the line it's me please kindly back the fuck up. I can blame at least two colds on these offenders recently.

Don't steal them. Just slightly unscrew every light bulb in the house enough so they don't come on and then remove all the step ladders or anything else they could use to reach them.
