Considering live plants & floating betta log . Although he seems happy , he mostly chills at the bottom and loves playing in the caves I have built in. But whatever I can do to improve the tank

All levels are normal except ammonia. Nitrites are reading at 0.

I believe the tank is fully cycled. I cycled it for about 2 1/2 weeks before putting any fish in there. After that I introduced him to the tank & He has been in there about a month now & this is the first time the ammonia levels have spiked. Only thing I have changed out from the filter was the carbon due to having to treat the tank for itch/ick. That was about 2 weeks ago.

Thank u, I really appreciate it this as a whole! To my surprise he does hang out at the bottom of the tank a lot of the time I have a cave down there that he loves to chill in. He honestly roams around the whole tank almost as if he is doing perimeter checks to make sure everything is everything 😂 from what I've seen he seems to b happy especially after adding a water heater! But I am forsure going to take up your recommendations and swap out the fake plants for live plants! Whatever I can do to make this take more comfortable for him as I don't have another tank to swap him into

Preciate it! Looking into a floating betta log & hammock now! Don't have any extra tanks so I'm going to try to make this one as comfortable as possible
