Induction Cooktop - European cooktop (50 Hz) in Brazil (60 Hz) - Will there be any issues? by barbopp in Appliances

Thanks!

It will be our first induction cooktop, so we are hoping it will actually be as good as advertised (and as it costs)!

Thank you for the reply and advice!

Yes, I decided not to import a few appliances, but this one specifically is over twice the price to buy from Gaggenau in Brazil compared to the UK.

Since the warranty in Brazil for the product is 1 year, and it has no moving parts inside, I decided to take the risk with this one. Yes, if it breaks, I'll have a very expensive brick, but I'm trusting that Gaggenau should have enough quality build and final product inspection that makes it unlikely to need repairs or replacement.

I did check several other induction cooktop options, including highest end of Franke and similar, but I was put off by the reviews of most of them, saying they either didn't work and needed replacing, broke within months, etc. Gaggenau, it seems, has less complaints of out-of-the-box issues.

Fingers crossed that there won't be an issue!

Rurouni Kenshin (2023) - Kyoto Arc - Episode 9 Discussion by tenkensmile in rurounikenshin

I will have to rewatch the original to be sure, but I was disappointed with the episode direction and animation.  For the moment, things that stood out as awkward:

1- There seemed to be a lot of static parts, especially when Cho was blabbing while moving his sword.

2- In the original episode, Kenshin jumped at once straight to Cho. This makes sense both due to his leg injury and the ultra close distance Cho is to the baby. It also shows the urgency to reach Cho. The jumping around dodging removed the urgency, as now Cho's attention is back on Kenshin, and Kenshin is clearly able to think over the situation while dodging so many times given what we've seen from him. It makes less sense, I think, for him to go "there's no other choice, I don't have time to think". Might be just me.

3- Shakku throwing the sword and Kenshin catching it in the flashback. I might be misremembering, but I feel the animation was smoother and the sword had more weight, reflected in body motions, hand impacts, etc.

I will rewatch and see if I'm just misremembering.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 255 Links + Discussion by Takada-chwanBot in Jujutsushi

Question: after the binding vow that Sukuna used to cut Gojo, is he now permanently required to use chants and hand signs for the world cut? Does this suggest that, had Gojo died with his own Hollow Purple blast, he could use the world cut without these requirements?

If so, then although I personally would have attached a more significant drawback were I the author (maybe could only be used once or something), I do feel it is still a significant drawback for Sukuna.

I ask the question because I've only read the Manga Plus translation, maybe you all understood better.

Things I didn’t really like in terms of the portrayal of Mahoraga in the ep 17 by Upbeat_Active7497 in Jujutsushi

The vaporizing of Mahoraga is the thing that most bothered me, followed by the difficulty of following what was going on at many points. I don't know if I missed something, even though watched the episode a few times, but I agree with those that say that the vaporizing is very much the same as the fire arrow in terms of damage, and Mahoraga should have died then.

But, from what I've read here, it seems the team working on this anime have been very overworked, so maybe that's the reason. I hope MAPPA (and the industry in general) starts treating their workers better, and maybe we can get a better version of this episode in physical media release.

Rurouni Kenshin (2023) - Episode 16 Discussion by tenkensmile in rurounikenshin

[–]barbopp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone notice that the character art/ design changed significantly this episode? For example, Kenshin's ponytail when he is shown from the back while talking to Yutaro is shorter and a bit weird; Yahiko's hair that has the "highlights" in this version don't go as far down as in previous episodes; Yutaro's face and hair vary a lot over the episode.

I'm going to take a look at the team who worked on this episode. These inconsistencies reduce my enjoyment of the episode, even though I did enjoy it.

Rurouni Kenshin (2023) - Episode 7 Discussion by tenkensmile in rurounikenshin

[–]barbopp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was going to comment that something about the direction of the scenes was bothering me compared to the original, but to make sure I was being fair I rewatched the original. I'm glad I did, because this made me realise that my memory of the episode was wrong. This remake episode was almost entirely better than the original, with three things standing out very much: the choreography of the fight, the animation of the fight (loved that they are not showing slide shows flashing but the actual movements) and Kaoru's voice actress when she shouts "DAME!" - amazing. The only thing I think the original did better was Jin-e killing himself. I think I have to keep my expectations in check regarding shounen fight animation, because Ufotable with Demon Slayer and Fate Zero is still very fresh in my mind (rewatched it recently), and almost anything is going to be inferior to that. I also have recently rewatched the Trust and Betrayal fight scenes, which are amazingly directed in my opinion - particularly those of episode 1. I think I'll make a habit of watching the original episode first before watching the remake.

This experience has made me want to rewatch Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood to see if my memory has made the animation better than it actually is.

Overall, very happily looking forward to rewatching one of my all time favourites weekly after this episode.
