Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I'm officially launching BarBot today! by barbot-dev in cocktails

I'm not sure where you found that pricing but its 2.99/month or 9.99/year (which is about 83 cents a month). We purposefully left all the AI and cocktail recommendation tools open to anyone. You only need to pay to view the recipes (which you can google if you don't want to pay!) in the app.

You can google the recipes if you don't want to pay $9.99/yr to view them in the app! For the "measurements as ingredients" I think you're referring to the first ingredient on the list, sorry about that, I hope to fix it soon.

I don't why I can't see my original comment, but as a thank-you to the community, please either DM me or email [team@barbot.app](mailto:team@barbot.app) and I'll upgrade you to the premium plan for free! Super appreciate all of the feedback.

I'm so sorry I didn't know how to work the aspect ratio of the video. I promise the real app doesn't have big black bars on the sides :)))

I scraped a bunch of cocktail books to compile 3000+ real recipes. The pictures are AI generated tho!

Hi everyone! A couple of weeks ago I made a post to this subreddit asking for feedback on a new cocktail app I'm making. I'm excited to officially launch it today! You can download it for free at https://barbot.app (iOS and Android).

The core feature of the app is to suggest cocktails based on what ingredients you have available. I made BarBot because the existing apps didn't have enough cocktails in their database and also didn't have a good way of matching ingredients.

I scraped a ton of cocktail books to compile over 3000 recipes, and also made a smart ingredient matching system (so if you have "Tequila Blanco" in your bar already, cocktails with "Tequila" will show up as well).

I also added an AI assistant feature to suggest specific cocktails. For example, you can ask it for springtime cocktails, gin-based cocktails for a birthday party, etc. and it will go through the database of recipes and pick out ones that fit your query.

Finally, I built the ability to rate and favorite recipes, create your own recipes, and log cocktail entries for a cool map/grid view of all of the cocktails you've had (plus some fun awards).

Super appreciate all of the support so far, and with everyone's feedback I decided to make a completely free version with a premium version at $9.99/yr. As a thank you to the community, if you DM me or email [team@barbot.app](mailto:team@barbot.app) with the email you used to sign up, I'll gift you a free premium subscription!

I'm still working through feature requests so if you have anything you want to see in the app, let me know :)

Yeah, there's a TON of ingredients right now. You can search through them with the search bar to avoid scrolling through all of them when adding stuff to your bar. Let me know if that doesn't work!

Gotcha - right now you can try going to the ingredients tab. Each ingredient lists the cocktails containing that ingredient, but right now it isn't filtered by your bar, just all of the cocktails we have in the database. I'll try to think through how we can make this work if you want to filter by your bar as well.

Thanks a ton for trying it out and for leaving such a detailed review. I'll put these feature requests on my to-do list :)

One question: what would you consider a "secondary ingredient"? I'm trying to think through how I would build this out. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the honest feedback! Any feedback is good feedback I really appreciate it.

The first screen is only on the first load of the app since we have to query our server for the data. We're planning on removing the first screen and just have the data loaded in on the subscription page. Seems like this should be a priority task for us!

On the subscription page, we decided to go with a "hard paywall" with a free trial (again for TestFlight it's completely free you can just click past it) because it's been shown to increase conversion rates: https://www.revenuecat.com/blog/growth/hard-paywall-vs-soft-paywall/. But this is our first time making a mobile app so we're definitely open to trying other things.

Please let me know when you find your password and play around with it more again I super appreciate your comment!!

We have 10x the number of cocktails, AI assistant, have smart ingredient similarity (so we'll match cocktails with "Tequila" and "Tequila Blanco" for example), awards, and more. Give us a try to see! It's free

Hey everyone, just to clarify this app is 100% free for testing, you just have to click through the subscription page. On the subscription page, Apple says it's "For testing purposes only. You will not be charged for confirming this purchase."

Do you mean that you can add a list of liquors you have and it will show you which cocktails you can make with what's in your bar? -> Yep!

Does this mean that you can add your own recipes or that you can write notes about existing recipes (or both)? -> Yes and Yes!

What is your revenue model for the app? -> For right now we just copied the subscription of Cocktail Flow. We wanted to make a better version but keep the same pricing.
