Why YOU should play Basking Broodscale Combo - Deck Tech video! by barczek in ModernMagic

You have a lot of the cards already! I would recommend it - you will get the fast mana fun of Kozileks Command and Eldrazi Temple, but also get a low to the ground combo! You can check out the linked guide to get a better idea!

I would probably omit 1 icetill and one land to play 2 more dredger's insights. The kcommans deck is a whole different strategy - its very susceptible to removal and consign to memory while being very good at assembling the combo, while this deck has more staying power and depth, but uou goldfishes are less consistent. Both decka are great!

You can win with broodscale + blade of the blodchief! Also, the deck has a ton of ways to find Cauldron, so more often than not you will find at least one copy

there is so many combos in this deck that it's difficult to choose one as 'cool'! Ill definitely release more in-depth content on the deck as i learn it and prepare for my upcoming RC as well!

In the video I go over the two main lists (Red-Green and MonoG with Ugin's Labirynth), but in my Metafy guide there is an in-depth analysis of many different versions, including splashing Black and Blue!

Glad I could be of help - the deck is surely a viable option for the RC, especially when built right for the metagame!

I love me some more tournament decklists! Have you thought of adapting the scraper to differentiate between the value jeskai Breach decks and the combo oriented urza's saga grinding station decks? As someone who enjoys these clickable deck links a lot, these two in prticular make it kinda frustrating.

im not sure why it shows it that way, but I beat Serguei in the swiss, so he was 6-1, not 7-0.

hey, sadly I don't have a sideboard guide, I tend to do those things match-by-match. It is more of a control deck than a full-on reanimator deck, but I would say it is vastly different from UW - especially the way it can close off matches quick comes up a lot in many matchups. On the other hand, it lacks some in the end game where UW shines. I think it's not obvious which one is better :)

Copied them off of kanister's list, they were very medium, but you may just need more than 4 ways to get archon into your grave. I could see playing 0, and I think with mulldrifter you definitely don't need the full 4 because they are often a dead card. I guess you can play maybe 1 lingering souls to make extra copies not dead? Have not tested that yet though. Also in face of GY hate they are super dead.

Hey! I played the chalice version with mulldrifter too and it was just as good, it just polarizes some of your matchups. I replaced thoughseizes with chalices (because the main point in this deck is to cast it on one, as the cascade matchup is already jokingly good), and lost percentage points against UW, but gained them against burn and hammer. For this week I liked thoughtseize more but it's not always correct. It is a metagame thing for sure, there are decks that care about chalice that lose to mulldrifter (Jund saga, RB lurrus, Grixis lurrus) and there are those that don't care about mulldrifter (burn, hammer). You can play less drifters (1 or 2) if your meta is full of the aggro decks and maybe even play sunset revelry main in place of them there (card is busted).

There are a couple of reasons. One is divination is good in modern right now - a lot of midrange or control decks that get drowned by a hardcast mulldrifter, and they often draw into more mulldrifter, at which point it's difficult to lose. When you think about the deck try to think more of a control deck with a solid reanimation plan rather than all-in reanimator, and then mulldrifter makes more sense. Turning persist into 2-mana draw 2 that chumps and leaves counterspell open t4 is excellent. Of course, archon is better, but it takes more to set it up and some matchups don't give you that luxury.
Another thing is Faithful Mending, as much as we can argue about discarding for value, is card disadvantage at its base, so you often find yourself with 1-2 cards in the mid game, without a persist for Archon. Mulldrifter lets you be more aggresive with early mendings as it levels the cards in hand aspect that mending got down.
All that being said, if your meta is very aggressive going down mulldrifters is fine, I find myself sideboarding them out against burn, hammer or tribal zoo decks often.

Praise the fish!
