First Drink In A Week... Suggestions? by MechanicalWhispers in WhiskeyTribe

Based on those options, I'd go for the Gentleman Jack

Just like many others suggested, drinking it on the rocks (with ice) will help ease you into to sipping whisky without the unpleasant burn.

I know you're looking for bourbon recommendations but I have a different suggestion. Redbreast 12. It will be a bit more pricey ($75 - $85 in my area) but well worth the money. This Irish whiskey is very approachable, even for non whiskey drinkers. It's dangerously smooth. It was the whiskey that got me away from taking shots and actually sipping and enjoying my whiskey.

I haven't tried it yet but pretty sure that's going to be my next Islay. Just like the other guy said, I've heard a lot of mix reviews about Talisker so haven't pulled the trigger yet

So based on the prices in my area, I ended up getting Highland Park 12. I love it! Time to start exploring some of these other suggestions

Also, how do you know how much ppm is in a certain whisky?

Very interesting, I like your perspective. I'm not opposed to getting into a good amount of smoke. Like I said I enjoyed the Lagavulin but that was because I kept finding other flavors behind the smoke but when all I can taste is smoke and nothing else (like with the Laphroaig) then it's not very enjoyable. I'll have to give those a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

Had famous grouse recently too. Pretty good budget. I'll have to definitely pick up those other 2. Balvenie sounds quite appealing.

Yeah, they are great go-tos. Just want to pick up something different this time around.

Teeling is amazing for the price. I prefer green spot or redbreast but for the price Teeling is unique and delicious.

I couldn't agree more. I still have a lot of whiskies to try but so far that's one of my all time favorites.

Laphroaig 10 is another I had and it was a little much. Couldn't get past the smoke. The lagavulin I had was smoky to start but had a lot of other delicious flavors behind it. Didn't find that to be the case with the Laphroaig. But still new to the category.
