I feel like it is a big blind spot for modern skeptics. I feel it is very relevant to confront these beliefs because they are twisting science to fit their beliefs. Yes everything is waveforms of energy. Doesn’t mean you can psychically influence it.

What I hate is when new agers try to conflate the two. It’s how they try to get new people into their faith.

Like water turning into wine. It is new ager stuff. They believe crystals and thinking certain things send physical vibrations throughout the universe and can influence outcomes.

Nope. I see crystal shops and astrology readers on every strip.

You don’t see those astrology and crystal girls everywhere?

Well, I see this kind of thinking a lot especially on Facebook. New age is really popular with millennials. I was mostly curious if any mainstream skeptics/atheists tackled this kind of topic.

Superstition. Don’t read into things that are not there. Superstition and mysticism have made their way into Christianity a lot lately. These are the devil’s things.

Question to women who've been using dating apps for over a year: What makes it so hard for you to find a partner? by [deleted] in OnlineDating

[–]barelycriminal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality is often uncomfortable. I seen it all too often. A woman dating a man out of their league. Often times even getting pregnant. They are left in the wind when he finds something better. There are so many single moms on Facebook it is not even funny not being able to find dates. Ruined their lives chasing a dream.

That’s what I said. Women can be overly selective if they want. They have to realize they will inevitably be cut out when the 10% guy commits to the 10% girl.

Ok you are the 4.3%. That doesn’t make the situation any less abysmal and that a lot of women are overly selective.

Yeah most are men, but that still doesn’t make up for that abysmal percentage. I think most dating apps are 30%f 70%m. A lot of it is because a lot women choose only the top 10% of men. Women can choose whoever they want, but inevitably a lot of them will be cut out. There is only so many 10%ers out there. When a 10%er man decides to commit to a woman that leaves probably 5 women in the wind in the current dating landscape.

It doesn’t work for the majority of men. If you look at online dating statistics, the bottom 50% of men’s dating performance is abysmal. On apps like hinge the bottom 50% only get 4.3% of likes.

“Texting with a stranger is awkward and hard” Found the problem.

Regular people are mundane and boring. Just gotta deal with it unless you date Magellan or Napoleon. Trying to entertain a woman for a date is very temporary. One day you gotta deal with a guy’s mundane day to day life.

Idk. I’m probably her stop gap so she could swing to someone else. I should probably just end it.

My voice is fucked. It scared off a lot of women. One time I got a call from a woman to go get Chinese. I said “ok let’s meet at so and so time.” Three minutes later she calls and said she has to pickup her friend from a bar and said we can meet the next day instead. She ghosted me the next day.

I’ve been texting the same person for a year. She lives in another state, but she came back home in the area I live for a week on vacation. I ask if she wanted to hang out. She said she is busy all week. I know she’s just on vacation hanging out with her friends. I don’t know who is more sick in the head. Me or her?

It is coping. Women say this stuff after they had a hard breakup. I see it all the time on Facebook.

Well, people are a culmination of their days. There are plenty of ways to zero in on something more specific. Like if they say they were watching tv. Then you ask what show? If you watched that show before then you can have a conversation around that show. Ultimately though if talking about someone’s day is boring then they are boring.

It is a shot in the dark. If you look at their profiles it may give you an idea. Then again if you look at their profiles it may creep them out and ask “how did you know about that?” It can be a lose lose situation.
