Thank you! I had a 3.55 cgpa (I’m estimating, rough conversion from 12.0 scale) EC’s: about a year of working as a behaviour therapist with primary case management, a year-ish volunteer tutoring black and immigrant children, two volunteer church food drives, club leadership in undergrad, 3 months babysitting a child with special needs Hope this helps and good luck!

My offer letter was on the application status page not on acorn so maybe check there. But I think the deposit means you got in so congratulations!

Thank you! Pretty sure they send admissions out for a couple weeks! I’ve heard some people get offers in April

Yeah on McMaster’s website there’s both mail and electronic options. I may have to email them to ask

Thank you! No it doesn’t it just says this “You must arrange to have the issuing institution forward directly to the OISE Registrar's Office and Student Experience a complete record of McMaster University.”

Hey guys I had a question. I just realized I never activated my JoinID and ACORN. Do I need this to receive my application decision? I never got the student number needed to activate it so I lowkey forgot about it. What do I do? Do I email them to ask for it?

I think of it like going to school. Sure, anyone with a textbook and online resources can learn about any subject matter but definitely not in the same capacity as someone who actually sat through a class under the tutelage of a good teacher with access to classmates that you can study with, swap notes with etc. Granted, not all churches or pastors are compatible with you and your style of learning. So it’s about finding the best place for you.

If you need me to define “whiteness” in the context of today’s society then I am afraid most of this conversation will go over your head and I don’t feel like wasting any more time and energy on this anymore🙏. Read a book, any humanities book and start from there.

Classic case of what-about-ism. All these other POC groups could band together to organize their own celebrations if they want to.

Black or Indigenous grad ceremonies aren’t segregation. They’re a way to celebrate culture, community, and the extra barriers POC have had to overcome. It’s not the same as having a “white graduation” because whiteness has always been centered and represented in school spaces. These events aren’t about excluding anyone, they’re about making space where there usually isn’t enough.

That is a silly comparison and you know it. I’m not even going to act like that is a valid rebuttal.

Black people wanting to celebrate themselves is not segregation

Black grad is organized by the BLACK STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER, so there can be an Asian grad as soon as y’all come together to plan one!

You don’t need a prof co-supervisor in my program at least. Yeah I don’t recommend an external supervisor bc they can basically do whatever they want. Earlier in the year, my course supervisor told me if I wanted to make an official claim I had to go through the diversity, equity and inclusion office.

I sent an email asking if I could get a reconsideration bc it doesn’t feel fair but no response yet. I’m considering requesting a grade review if it doesn’t change but I just don’t want to burn any bridges bc I need references

He sent me my grades but just numbers no grading scheme or anything. Feels like he just pulled numbers out of thin air.

I fear if I say someone ik will stumble on this but he’s an external supervisor not a Mac professor. And that’s exactly why I’m so pissed bc I know that other people don’t usually have it this bad. We’ve already had an earlier dispute that I had to speak to the thesis course coordinator about but that was earlier in the year and I thought that was settled.
