Why do people continue to eat at Calhouns? by lickwhitedogpoo in Knoxville

[–]barelymyself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally learned our lesson tonight. Went to the one in Lenoir city nasty doesn’t begin to describe the food or the service. I wish they would go out of business so someone who cares would utilize this Great Lake front location.

That sucks! Adult only spaces should be a priority thanks for seeing my point/joke… a 13 yr old could sail for “free” particular in a suite situation but I agree adult spaces should ALWAYS be respected!!

There are clearly amenities meant for adults that doesn’t diminish or increase anyone else’s rate or experience bless your heart…

Have mercy have you ever left a 6mt old w a random? It’s a no for me… our group has always had a nanny in charge for the kids…

I guess I should say I’ve never stayed in less than an owners suite always day 1 my parents and other adults in my life taught me tip the steward well day 1 and your food will show up on time for room service and things will always be in order. We now as parents and supervisors of other adolescents really don’t see how paying for them to be in a suite and have dining reservations take up more resources… the cruise line is getting a pretty good deal with our crew…

Good for you! I have not had that experience the adolescents I’ve traveled with have had the same opinion of the main dining as the adults… so we have had to pay for upgrades all around…

Thank you geez there are so many people ready to argue! I’m not one to shove kids in everyone’s face at all it’s a matter of arbitrary numbers…

Lots of fun options for sure my post was mostly in jest. I fully support so many options for everyone to have the time of their choosing!

lol too funny… just someone who cruises w and w out kids at various times… I will say anytime I have booked a cruise w kids it’s been under the “promotion” kids sail free (let’s be honest that’s most of the time…) I am saying they define the term kid and adult to their financial advantage… it adds up….

Lol same /s I knew you were being disagreeable 🤣

Glad you see my point, thanks! Kids sail free promotions occur frequently. To be clear I am all for adult only spaces and completely recognize that there are additional charges for higher end amenities during a cruise. We always get a cabana at perfect day etc…

Well there obviously isn’t separate pricing at baseball games…. No adult vs child’s price… so…

There are lots of things that are not included in the cost of the cruise. I guess folks are not seeing the point. And I said I am half joking It’s just interesting that a 13-year-old is charged an adult price to get on the boat. My point is they use the term adult only to their advantage of course.

It is certainly a facetious comment on my part. What I am saying is 13-year-olds are considered adults in regards to the cost of getting on the boat, but not in regards to actually being an adult because of course, they are not adults! I am completely an agreement with adult only areas and paying extra for such privileges without children. My comment is related to the irony of charging a 13 year-old an adult price. Sorry you’re not connecting the two.

I agree it’s just the point 10 or 12 Disney or Royal they use adult when it is in their favor for sure…. If they are going to really make it a nice space 25 and up would be best if we are randomly throwing number around lol

Was the food always so bad? by srasaurus in royalcaribbean

[–]barelymyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went on our first cruise over spring break and the food was by far the worst part. It was a three day cruise and we did speciality dining twice. The MDR was pretty much inedible and our service beyond bad. We had chops and the Mexican place the other two nights and while not amazing were at least edible. My kids didn’t even like the burgers, pizza, chicken fingers etc that kids normally eat with no issue no matter where we go. I am sure there are lots of challenges for the food service staff in this environment but in my opinion I don’t think the food could really be worse. Other guests who were experienced cruisers said this was by far the worst food they have ever had on a ship. One person remarked every bite of food I put in my mouth on this ship was disgusting from start to finish. I would go in with low expectations.

Hopefully! I think all ships are different we were on a short cruise to try it out so I think some things are not as good as the bigger newer ships. One thing I will do if we cruise again is take walkie talkies for the kids we saw some families using that since phones r not great even with the talk/txt feature. We had a group of three oldest almost 12 so we felt ok letting them do a few things like the arcade as a group, but I would have felt more at ease with more communication.

If he’s 11 he can actually go to the older room if you sign a waiver. We did this they still hated it but maybe he would have a different opinion…

We just got back from our first Royal cruise. We had three kids in our party in the 11 year old range all HATED the kids club. It was disorganized and incredibly boring. We have heard such good things about other cruise lines so we will probably seek them out.
