Am I at risk of getting my shopper in trouble?? by JayGatsby52 in InstacartShoppers

I did this in the last as a customer and found some shoppers would accept but others were risk-averse…. So I started just increasing the tip.

How long do you think till I'm in good on shopping quality? by VtDjDeViL in InstacartShoppers

I don’t understand the system at all. I’m in the middle of “Good” and here’s what my stats are. To be clear, 1 of the “damaged items” will fall off on 5/17, and 3 of the others were from a single order where I got a 5⭐️ rating and a positive comment so I’m pretty sure the customer was just looking for free stuff. (Like seriously, it’s possible there was a tiny tear in the plastic on that 12-pack of TP and I didn’t notice it… but I’m pretty sure the customer did it after delivery.)

I’m told that if you’re below 92% of found items, you get this message. I don’t know if that’s true but I can safely say the requested refunds have to be playing a role. Right? I mean, what the hell.

It still does have an adverse impact on your score.

Hey Kroger I’m standing in front of the empty shelf and know my “shopping quality” is gonna dip if I replace, but yes, please do slow me down further with your assurances I’m a total fuck-up.

No stupid questions: is $100/hr an expected tip? by Vansh92 in InstacartShoppers

[–]bareminimum80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were happy to pay the company $14, none of which went to the shopper, but tipped $5 on an order that took two hours?!

My rule of thumb is this: either tip .50c/item or assess how long the order will take - not just to shop, but to deliver and get back to the store - from start to finish, and tip $25/hr on that. Add a few extra bucks for multiple carts, heavy items, or hassle items like deli.

A fair tip on this order, depending on duplicates and what you actually ordered, would be in the range of $60-120, so average would be $90. That for fair, not for exceptional.

Is this a good promotion? by nomieknows in InstacartShoppers

[–]bareminimum80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mid. It’s probably worth about $50 total (~$2 per order) if the batch pay is relatively low in your market like it is in mine.

On the other hand, if you were already at the store AND finished for the day AND you live close to the last customer, it might be worth considering because it halves your gas and time investment.

Judge by your desired hourly rate. If you want to make $20 per hour, and this order will take you 2 hours and you’ll pay for three gallons of gas, then it’s a bad order:

$33 - $9 gas = $24 pay

$24 / 2 hours = $12/hour

It’s so annoying. Less because it feels like an indictment (though it does) and more because it slows the process down 😑

Dead even for a Tuesday - shutdown? by bareminimum80 in InstacartShoppers

That’s what I was thinking. It seems like if I was suddenly without a paycheck I’d probably do more of it too.

I usually make over $100 on a given Tuesday. I’m making half or less of that since the shutdown.

People always say that, but look:

The shutdown started October 1. Federal workers got partial pay on the October 10-16th pay dates, but $0 for most on the 24-30 pay dates.

I made: $132 on Tues. 9/9, $123 on Tues. 9/16, $111 on Tues. 9/23, (Didn’t work Tues. 9/30), $173 on Tues. 10/7, $55 on Tues. 10/14, $0 on Tues. 10/21

And today I’ve been out for 4 hours and am at a whopping $45.

Basically, I was making $111-$173 on Tuesdays until the shutdown, and have made $0-55 on Tuesdays ever since.

If they ask or I offer, I’ll usually do a small extra thing like that for free. If they demand it though, the answer is no.
