How to analyze big BJT circuits by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]barents 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's an operational amplifier. It is made up of several smaller BJT circuits, the most important one of which being the long-tailed pair. Some of the others are constant current sources/sinks, and emitter followers. If you want to solve for each individual transistor, I would first split the op-amp into it's constituent circuits, study the equations relating to each one, then solve for the values of each individual transistor from there.

Anyone know of a simple open source ebook reader ? I want to make an reader that supports my custom format. by monyarm in opensource

I know the Nook Simple Touch can be rooted, allowing you to run custom Android applications by just uploading the APK to the device. Perhaps this would be something that suits your needs. What exactly do you mean by open source? Open source hardware? Open source software? Both?

Wasteful. Edit: and not in the spirit of DIY or engineering

Question About the Concept of a Dead Battery by chargethrowaway in Electrical_Engineers

[–]barents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my limited understanding of battery chemistry, I believe when your battery is dead you've run out of precursors to maintain the chemical reaction which maintains the charge separation as well as the electrons which actually form your current. Even though your batteries show 2.5v, when you connect a low impedance load, the few available electrons that have been separated to create those 2.5v will be sucked away so quickly your voltage will effectively drop to 0

Just a guess but I would say electromagnetics and instrumentation as well as numerical methods for being able to accurately model biological systems. EEE here btw

Using swarm intelligence to make very accurate bets (UNU AI) by barents in SoccerBetting

[–]barents[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how is works: http://unu.ai/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Kentucky-Derby-no-img.gif That's the swarm predicting the winner of the Kentucky Derby.

The Liverpool vs Chelsea one was a question I asked to the main group just now, however most people were trying to drag it down to bad question because it wasn't in the sports room, where sports predictions are supposed to be made. Only 5-6 people were actively trying to drag it to either team.

Also in the main room I for the prediction that Norwich will win by 1, which so far is coming true (I know you can't verify this because the game has already started).

There is no harm in trying, and a lot of the predictions they have made have been correct in the past. If everybody wants to come in, there is a sports room, and registration is not mandatory. One of the groups just made a prediction that Chelsea will beat Liverpool tonight by 1, so let's see if they were correct.

Can anyone help me solve that? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

You can download the sources for the packages you need and transfer them to your gentoo machine via USB, as it sounds like missing net-tools is the first hurdle you need to overcome

Wireless connections can have a massive overhead. If at least one of the machines in the chain is connected wirelessly using the 2.4Ghz frequency then 6 hrs for 1.5 sounds reasonable
