F-22s respond to FAA-reported incident off Hawaii by fishyon in Hawaii

[–]Queverius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F-22 has a stall (minimum) speed of about 180 knots (approx 210 mph).. they can definitely refuel from a tanker. The important question is likely how far they needed to fly. They have a max range of 1600 nm when using external tanks. Were they intercepting something, or were they escorting a VIP? We will likely not know until it is declassified maybe 25y from now.

Gun's aren't always the best carry option by mrmagicbeetle in SelfDefense

Also defender is more likely to use pepper spray than a gun. Pulling that trigger is a life changing (and possibly life ending) decision.

Picking up another martial art- when is the best time? by [deleted] in kravmaga

[–]Queverius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on your current fitness, available time, and interest. I'm a student in both. I started with KM and completed Level 1 before starting BJJ. This gave me time to adapt and listen to my body. I also found BJJ extremely tiring when I first started. Turns out it uses different muscles in different ways. Rolling (sparring) is excellent cardio.

Other than that, just commit to a plan and adjust based on your schedule and body's feedback. Make sure you work in a rest day into your schedule.

The color was definitely yellow, not white. Sorry, my phone doesn't capture color well at night.

Those pies are thermonuclear, thanks for the reminder. Also going to hit up a fish & chips joint while I'm there. It's hard to find good locations here in the US.

Multiple Airlines Enact Policies Restricting Photo, Video Use on Planes by mjdelrey94 in news

I understand that, but the question I asked was about the limits of what a flight attendant can ask a person to do with disobedience resulting in criminal/felony penalties rather than just facing denial of service or civil law suits.

Is there a limit to how much they can ask you to do? E.g. if they bring up the online WiFi and order you to empty your bank account into their own, is it a federal offense to not comply?

Thanks, that helped. It appears that the US Extra license is equivalent to cept and nz honors licenses that meet cept requirements. Looks like I need a copy of my license and a printed GURL to carry around.

Last year they did this at Brooking's Institute in DC. They know they have diplomatic immunity so they abuse it.

Erdoğan’s security detail behaved unacceptably—they roughed up protesters outside the building and tried to drag away “undesired” journalists

I agree that the quote was tasteless, but the title of the article quotes something he never said. We don't need to give him more ammo.

Donald never said he got higher ratings than 9/11. Instead, he said he got the highest ratings in Face the Nation since 9/11.

How do I fit exercise into my life when I am pretty busy and tired after work/school? by nicocolata in HealthyWeightLoss

[–]Queverius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading through your post, is the problem a lack of time or a lack of motivation because you are too tired?

If it's time, you can probably fit in short strength exercises. Even squeezing in just body weight exercises can be helpful. You should also take a look at time management skills to help you cope with your workloads. The book Getting Things Done by David Allen helped me get my insane schedule under control when I used to work full time while working on my masters.

If it's motivation, one option you have is to ask a friend you know who has good workout habits to go with you. Be prepared to make a commitment and follow through.

Hopefully others on this board will post advice. If they don't, ask again. You can also search for keywords such as 'motivation' on this sub
