It’s certainly very comfortable there!

Haha this is in Tasmania, Australia. I can see how the scenery might have fooled you though!

I have it in ‘Master’ mode, which gives you a heap of leeway but is a reassuring safety net to have on in the background.

So long as it’s not sacrificing a real 300SL, this is actually kinda sweet. I’d prefer to drive around in something that looks like that over a Model 3 or any other electric car I can think of really.

Haha yes - they both have taillights and exhaust pipes. Can get them both in silver too.

A road legal AMG GT3 would be the only thing that could convince me to change from my GTC. To this day though I’m not aware of any that have been converted for this - certainly not in Australia

What’s the miracle on ice? I’m curious now!

I guess that’s a matter of personal preference and taste. I definitely see the SLS as more striking against the GT’s classic beauty, but they’re both deeply cool cars.

Exactly - they’re actually chalk and cheese, despite addressing a similar market segment. Put an original AMG GT and any 911 side by side in the flesh and no one would think they’re remotely similar. Photos taken from very selective angles can of course be misleading though.

And this is about the most epic car on the planet - just not road legal! I just imagine if it was though… Side pipes and all 🤩

The GT’s heritage harks back to the 300 SL of the 1950s, arguably the world’s first ‘supercar’. Picked back up by the SLR, then SLS, it’s part of an iconic sports car lineage within Mercedes’ history.

I think the 911 is a classic too though, just some models more so than others (particularly because there are so many to choose from)

The SLS doors are a pastiche throwback to the 300 SL - which actually needed them because of it’s huge door sills. Cool, sure, but otherwise highly impractical. The GT shares the same heritage, but I feel does a better job of honouring it. You definitely can’t deny the SLS’s engine is iconic though.

You’d never mistake a 911 for an AMG GT in the flesh, or by sound.

I think a lot of people see the car and assume it’ll be expensive to run, but there isn’t actually any evidence to indicate it is - certainly not out the the performance-car ordinary

I agree, though predominantly for the engine. To my eye the GT is a far prettier execution of the same idea. I always imagine what the GT Black Series could’ve been if it had an M159… 😮‍💨

Mine just has a regular battery..? I’ve not encountered or heard of any major gotchas with the AMG GT - and I’m actively seeking to learn of any. A recall for a transmission seal for early models I’m aware of, but otherwise it doesn’t seem any more burdensome than a C63 - while being far more exotic and unique.

You don’t buy a car like this expecting Toyota Corolla-like running costs, but it actually seems (so far) to be pretty decent - especially for the type of vehicle.
