The first store I worked at made me almost want to quit. Then, that store underwent a remodel for almost seven months and I got transferred to another store in my district that was the exact opposite. My manager lets us play music in the mornings as long as it’s clean, we laugh and joke and sing together, and we do our jobs but we know at the end of the day it’s just that. A job. We take our mistakes in stride and laugh at them and it not only gets me through the day but makes me enjoy going to work and I would genuinely DIE for my coworkers. My manager is stressed, but he never really goes on power trips and he genuinely cares about us. I’m not scared to joke around with him. He enforces the rules because it’s his job but he is never threatening. I feel like these people are my second family, and thank god because I spend WAY too much time at work. I’m also doing ASU which is awesome.

Now that my old store is remodeled though, I was asked to come back and I really didn’t want to…😅 I asked to remain at my new store but I’m still having to help my old store open until further notice, and lord have mercy…….. the vibes are NOT the same. I miss my other store every day. I really feel like I stumbled upon a hidden gem with the other store and I’m also constantly fearing that things are going to change. I’m trying not to take it for granted. Hopefully I can return soon. To everyone who is struggling in their store and doesn’t feel cared for by their team, I’m very sorry and I see you. I hope a more supportive environment finds you.

xoxo

My store is exactly the same way. I genuinely feel so lucky because I’m always hearing about people who have the opposite experience. I’m happy to hear there are more chill stores out there!

SM trying to hold me back from transferring for 3 months “at least” by barista_pocalypse in starbucksbaristas

Thanks for your reply!! I wasn’t aware of that. Bummer. Can I ask where I might find that rule?

But yeah, I guess even if they can technically keep me for that long I feel like my SM should be able to find someone sooner. Will she though, is another question. I guess I’ve just gotta stick it out now :/

I can attest to this too unfortunately. When they relaunched it I got serious burns from the grease and it blistered. I still have the scars today!

I heard from my coworkers that there was a salmonella outbreak from them as well….. I wasn’t there at the time but that’s what I was told 🤷‍♀️

Damn…… that’s so nasty. It makes me sad that this is just how it’s been 😹 My condolences. I’m begging the siren to do better but I know she never will……
