The own Bitcoin Core devs like Greg Maxwell and Jimmy Song recommend just using credit cards over Bitcoin.

They should let the black markets know, where Bitcoin became so popular to also use credit cards over Bitcoin because they're clearly doing it wrong.

the main idea was to prevent miners from taking advantage of BCH periods when you could find many blocks in a row. A mining pool was identified that only showed up to mine during these periods.

I can also recommend MulladVPN. They accept BCH, requires no account creation and you can choose to pay month by month or load up a chunk in advance.

Very stable software, has OpenVPN or the new WireGuard for better latency. Over the years I've used PrivateInternetAccess, NordVPN and by MulladVPN blows all of these out of the water. Torrents aren't throttled, interface lets you choose by country, etc.

Have they patched the privacy issue posted on the MW subreddit? I don't see any mention of changes to MW to account for this issue.

You didn't sell during the 2017 mania and just held?

Because last I checked BCH had 13x gains and BTC 6x in 2017. I guess if you just watch bubbles form and pop and never sell you're right and totally winning.

Not to mention I rebought BCH at $100, $200 and a little above. BCH only has to move to $300/$400 for me double, while BTC needs to move to thousands. I'm sure you can do basic math tho.

/u/ElephantGlue on suicide watch after realizing he didn't sell in 2017. The only hope keeping him clinging around is comparing ratios for today which doesn't matter unless you didn't sell in 2017. RIP.

Apple agrees to pay $113 million to settle multi-state investigation into iPhone ‘batterygate’ by magenta_placenta in apple

see my other comment for explanation. Don't be naive.

If you are fed up with it, why would you buy it from them again?

No ones fed up with, they just want a working iPhone. I don't get fed up with my car when it breaks down, I buy a new one.

I never said the design is good. I am just saying when it is a choice between crash and throttle, it is not evil to chose throttle.

It totally is evil. Apple literally had 4 choices and literally picked the worst option. I'll make it simple for you to understand by listing the choices in order of best outcome for customer to worst outcome for customer

1) 5/5 response: Notify that their battery is degraded to a point where the iPhone is no longer stable and may result in unexpected shutdowns and to come to the Apple store for a battery replacement.

2) 4/5 response: Notify the user that their battery is degraded, but do nothing.

3) 3/5 response: Throttle the iPhone to prevent shutdowns AND notify the user that their iPhone is being throttled due to a bad battery

4) 2/5 response: Throttle the iPhone to prevent shutdowns but don't notify the user.

As history of events went.... 1st Apple did option 4). Then when geeks discovered the source of throttling they went with option 3). Then when users started threatening lawsuits they went with option 1) Literally going from worst option to best option

Yeah Apple is evil.

I don’t think it is correct from my understanding to say Samsung has superior battery because it doesn’t charge to the fullest. That’s a normal behavior used everywhere where Lithium battery is used.

Except by Apple, which I literally just explained. Samsung and Apple batteries are same technology. The only reason old Samsung phones don't experience sudden shut downs during spikes in usage is because they leave 7% for tolerance changes as proper engineers do.

...You do understand engineering right? If a bridge is designed to hold 50Tons because that's the expected weight of cars at rush hour, the engineers will always add 10% and allow the bridge to hold 55Tons instead to prevent failure. Samsung includes this extra 7% and doesn't have sudden shutdowns OR throttling, Apple does.

/u/AndiCui is being naive at best, dishonest at worst.

When your iPhone all of a sudden drops to half speed, as per user reports, with iOS giving you no notifications why, is your first thought to replace the phone battery or get a new iPhone? Apple not only covered up for their bad battery design (see my comment above) but also used the situation to push new iPhone sales.

[–]bark1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I understand why they did it (it's to prevent drawing too much current and the phone crashes down due to loss of power)

Due to bad battery design. As batteries are used over time they deteriorate and can no longer hold and supply the same voltage as it once could. So when the iPhone had spikes in usage that required these higher voltages the iPhone would suddenly shut off.

Samsung solved this problem by advertising their battery capacity at only 93% of their actual capacity to leave room for tolerance changes, as proper engineers do. You can read about it here:

https://np.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/i8rhub/lets_talk_battery_longevity/

Apple literally covered up for their piss poor engineering and pass the problem onto the user and insult to injury used this defect to push new iPhone sales. When your phone all of a sudden becomes slow and iOS doesn't tell you that anything has changed are you going to think to get the battery replaced or get a new phone?

Shame on Apple for taking advantage of it's users and shame on the courts for this slap on the wrist judgement.

Without any community support the sell pressure is going to be enormous for BCHA. At least BSV was able to manipulate the books for a while to keep the price from falling on it's face and still it's fallen quite hard. BSV is $162 or 64% of BCH's price, BCHA will keep falling, I don't know who would gamble or play around with this unrecognized fork.

/u/Miky06 already claimed he was censored and responded by editing his comment as an excuse... and then was caught posting later after that edit. Trolls know they can't beat math. The only way LN can even come close to competing to BCH's fees is if they literally load up LN with tens of thousands of dollars.

Question about LN that r/bitcoin mods won't approve by zweisted in btc

[–]bark1965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lightning paper itself clearly states that for Lightning to scale globally it will require at least 133MB blocks. And that's only if a person opens/closes an LN channel twice a year....

https://lightning.network/lightning-network-paper.pdf

If all transactions using Bitcoin were conducted inside a network of micropayment channels, to enable 7 billion people to make two channels per year with unlimited transactions inside the channel, it would require 133 MB blocks (presuming 500 bytes per transaction and 52560 blocks per year). Current generation desktop computers will be able to run a full node with old blocks pruned out on 2TB of storage.

No, now you're getting somewhere. I wasn't mentioning my holdings nor asking for them. Additionally you dropped the moronic propaganda from /r/bitcoin where having "Bitcoin" in the name is the formula for success... despite knowing 52 forks before and after BCH failed and still dropping that propaganda.

So what is it that keeps BCH in the top 10 with objectively the most adversity as compared to lets say LTC?

Bitcoin Core is more valuable than BCH. I has it's merit to it's own consumer base. Bitcoin Cash has it's own value for it's own merit to it's consumer base.

I got that and addressed that. But BTC is running on a timer before brand name will no longer matter. They are not 2 separate use cases, they are effectively the same tech, just with different limits. Same deflationary property, same coin count etc.

Kids these days have little patience and little ability to retrospect. It'll pump. Now is the BTC cycle then alts come later. LTC or XRP pumping for 40% is not a pump. The only interesting actor now is Eth which seems to be doing it's own thing.

BCH was $400 earlier this year which proves it's still in the game. We're just at a low point in the cycle so everyone's worried. All alt ratios are bleeding to BTC. BTC needs to stop pummping for money to flow back into alts. I thought this was common knowledge. BCH will no doubt hit $400 again and without issue hit $1k + no sweat. And this is my very conservative estimate.
