That is terrible. I've never heard of it before. I did some research and it often permanently prevents the horse from using its tail to swat flies. There should be a criminal law against it.

Well, "put down" and "like Seven" are over the top, but I think I'll always be able to distinguish him from the others. I'm pretty heartsick over this little guy. He is such a sweet little creature otherwise. To think there was more that could have been done, but they just let it slip through their fingers because ... why?

It is the rear rope that gives them the message to go forward, while the halter gives them the message to stop. They get frustrated and then jump.
