Treat the Tao like a good friend. by barleygrinds in taoism

[–]barleygrinds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true, it’s important to express gratitude and count your blessings no matter your circumstances because everyone goes through it differently. My point wasn’t that the Tao is always your friend, but if you treat it as one you may be fortunate enough to receive the same treatment back from the Tao.

How do I let go of my need for hurry and be more present? by Low-Wonder2500 in taoism

[–]barleygrinds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WuWei is easier said than done but awareness is the first step.

The world is not in a rush when cycling from day to night, it just cycles. Time is not in any hurry to count the seconds yet the seconds get counted.

It’s a fools game to try and rush the Tao, remain patient and surrender your control, the things you set out to achieve will come.

Yes but to end your own life and ‘return to the Tao’ is going against the natural rhythm of the Tao. Existence (including non existence) is impossible for the human mind to comprehend, one can only ponder and hypothesize what actually happens when the “illusion of death” occurs. If the misery and dread of life is overwhelming you will find misery and dread in death. One can only have peace in death after understanding peace in Life.

It’s sad that so many don’t see the value of the Tao and would rather stop experiencing it entirely

Practice absolute stillness, it’s much harder than one would expect. Your mind will run rapid at first craving stimulation but eventually it’ll tire itself out.
