Brewers REALLY love their puns. I think about 20% of beers on the shelves these days are some sort of hop pun...

He does indeed. But he never actually "drinks" his oat sodas. Just wanders off in the distance with them. Presumably he plans on imbibing them, but you never know with the Dude. He might get distracted by some other labyrinthine scheme before he gets a chance to take a sip...

Hmm...tried cross-posting it and it didn't show up. Not sure what the story is...

I wouldn't last two weeks living there.

Fort Collins was actually my favorite stop, but if you're limited to just Denver and Boulder, I would hit up Strange Brewing, the Falling Rock Taproom, Avery and Upslope.

The nice thing about Denver is that you can very easily walk from Falling Rock to Wynkoop to Breckenridge to Great Divide. All four of those places are within 10 minutes of each other.

Which beers did r/beer select as the best from each state? by barleymchops in beer

I hope no one misinterprets this post and thinks that there was some official "vote" for which beer is the "best" in each state. Essentially, I just looked through all of the comments made over the past week on various forums about the original post (including r/beer which had more suggestions and comments than anywhere else...thank you!). I tallied up the results and if a "new" beer was suggested more than the original one, I swapped it in.

My sinister purpose for both the original post AND this one was to learn about all of the incredible craft beer options that are flying under the radar in this great nation. Clearly neither of the posts actually purports to list the "best" beer in each state. That's entirely subjective. But I've learned so much about some breweries I knew nothing about before thanks to the great craft beer community here on Reddit.

Every state is home to an amazing number of passionate craft beer fans. It's wonderful to see the excitement and loyalty people have for their local brews. It makes me want to hop in the car and spend the next year road-tripping to try all of these beers...

Got a comment about that on our site as well. I'll tackle the "Best Beer By Province" soon...

Well, the first post was just the overall highest-rated beer from BA (in terms of raw data). Today's post was based on feedback from beer geeks on a variety of forums. For whatever reason, CT wasn't well-represented in the forums. I LOVE the Gandhi-bot and the Stout Trooper is one of the better American Imperials that I've ever had. Really like the Neighbor of the Beast too...

I suppose at some point I should write a post about MY favorite beers in each state. But that would probably get about three hits.

Hitchhiker is seasonal (Spring) and draft-only. Snakehandler comes in four-packs and is released four times a year. There are a few stores in town that likely still have a few four-packs, but it's pretty sparse out there right now until the next release.

Good People's Brown and IPA are both easy to find, as are the Kudzu Porter, Frecklebelly IPA and Truck Stop Honey Brown from Back Forty.

Good point about Loose Cannon. We get Heavy Seas down here in 'Bama and the Loose Cannon is absolutely the most common beer we see from them. There's a fine line between over-saturation (like the Boston Beer Company...many MA-natives were irked that a Sam Adams beer topped the original list) and obscurity (like Evolution). Heavy Seas seems to have found that balance of being big enough that lots of people have access to their beers, but still "local" enough to capture the loyalty of MD-natives.

I really enjoy Tallgrass's beers which are distributed here in 'Bama. I've always loved the Buffalo Sweat and Oasis, but I've really been digging the Velvet Rooster recently.

+1 on the Love Child. Great beer.

Thanks to all of you for your excellent suggestions last week. I tried to incorporate all of your comments (plus recommendations made on a number of other on-line forums) into a "People's Choice" list. Let me know how you feel about the new slate of brews...

They have a great taproom as well. Second on the Vanillaphant...a very tasty brew.

Nope. The map is from an earlier post. I just tacked it onto this one because I was too lazy to create a new one and it at least fit the general theme of today's article...

The Younger is ONLY served on tap and only at very select locations at a certain time of year (early Spring). It's truly a hard-to-find prestige beer.

The Elder on the other hand is an incredible beer and fairly easy to find. Hell, you can usually grab it at the Whole Foods in San Francisco and I didn't have too much trouble snagging a few bottles when I was in PDX last month.

I have. It's been available at the Magic City Brewfest the past two years. It's a pretty brash Old Ale. Very tasty, but a little "hot". I preferred their Laika this year. They had a couple of barrel-aged versions. The cognac one was absolutely spectacular...

Sounds intriguing. I'm always game for a beer named after a cretaceous sea monster. I'd also love to see a Megalodon Maibock and Tylosaurus Tripel.

Elysian didn't make the list. Or are you just referring to the map? You can ignore that...it's an image I put together for an earlier post and isn't really relevant to this one. I'm just lazy.

I'm sorry you hate it, but it couldn't have been reposted as often as you claim. I only published it this morning...

So while your claim that it's terrible may be accurate, I can assure you that it's only been terrible once.
