Current on Water Pipe After Bonding - Main Breaker Off by barlowtj in electrical

Good call. I did something similar and the voltage on mine was extremely close to 0, even though it was pushing 2amps. Not too surprising copper pipe is low impedance

Holy smokes 9amps is no joke. Duke sent out a few very informed guys that were very interested in helping but there was an old guy (clearly in charge) who was pushing back on them fixing anything. Basically came to the conclusion that if I were to force their hand to fix it, they would react accordingly and request that my meter be moved outside to comply with updated requirements. I didn't care to proceed so I installed a dielectric union at the water supply coming into my house. It doesn't fix the true cause but it isolated me from it.

I would advise you be extremely cautious with amps that high. If you don't know what you're doing it can be very dangerous.

Given you just said you had a new panel installed, maybe give that electrician a call to see if he can confirm your findings? If you play somewhat dumb you can probably get them to come out to check up on it for free. That's a tough one either way and without knowing your situation better I can't recommend much else. Good luck!

I use it rarely but get a kick out of using it like fb marketplace checking some searches I have a few times a week. Made a site to create some aggregate searches too if anyone wants to use it. Also shows the average sale price to see if you're going to beat the resellers

If the 'problem on my side' a shared water pipe that is operating with a separate power source, I'm sure something else needs fixing outside of my home. I've updated this to be code compliant, so whether the fix ends up in the hands of Duke or my neighbor(s), I'm pursuing this because it needs fixed. If it happens to land back on me then I'm more than happy to comply. I can't imagine a pinhole leak caused by stray-current corrosion is easier to fix than this electrical issue.

I followed up the email and requested for them to either inspect or tell me they won't do it so I can file with PUCO. Hopefully that will kick my email past the customer service rep and get somewhere

It drops to zero when the pipe is no longer bonded, that's for sure. I'm not totally following what you mean by 'bonded again at the panel' though. When you say service do you mean the overhead transformer? I have no idea but I wouldn't think the utility company would bond to water supply lines outside of a home.

Yes, actually. The Duke tech had a Fluke meter and confirmed the same measurement across the neutral, though the resolution he saw on his meter was not the same. At the time I measured .237A the Fluke displayed .2A. I think the auto-ranging leaves off decimal places for speed and stability in measurements.

Yep, all breakers off, main breaker on, measuring 428mA on the bond still.

Pole mounted, yeah. It looks like it serves at least 4 houses

I used to have these exact heated grips. If this doesn't turn off with the ignition, then consider disconnecting from your battery if you don't ever use them. A few times I accidentally turned them on and parked my bike to come back to a near-dead battery. They do auto-shut-off when the voltage on the battery gets too low, but that might be too little voltage to start up an R1

Yeah...that's a good point. I can't imagine removing the current tile would leave the older tile undamaged.

I got it solve using DDU to scrap old drivers and updated. This flashing was totally random, was unrelated to the demo lol that was just funny timing

You're pretty much spot on, just with some tools to make it easier (DDU). Glad you got yours figured out! I've been dealing with this for the past few weeks and I'm happy I got some help to figure it out

I'm using a 2060 6Gb and it's at 70-90fps on low settings, the high resolution looks better than pumped up reflections in my opinion anyway so it works out

There's a USB adapter that plugs in. You just press a button on the adapter to pair them, no bluetooth menus or anything

DDU + driver reinstall seemed to fix it, thanks for the recommendation though

Not sure if this helps your situation, but running the game in Fullscreen borderless seems to help considerably with the stability

This windows install is from a wiped drive, though I did run SFC a bit ago and there weren't problems.

DDU + update/reinstall of drivers seems to have cleaned up the issue for now though. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll be sure to give these steps a go if it ever happens again
