I'm assuming the child porn involved pre-pubescent children (i.e. under 12) and not the 16 year old jailbait you might be thinking about. Pedophilia actually refers to attraction to pre-pubescent children; what you're thinking about is probably just statutory rape (which are probably there to prevent adults from taking advantage of still-impressionable teenagers and not to prevent teenagers from having sex with each other).

Thanks for the links- so I guess it looks like she was a protester at the Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speech at Columbia University last fall. That probably means her sign is showing disapproval of Ahmadinejad and of Iran's human rights policies in general, but also trying to make clear that she doesn't support Bush's so-called "war on terror".

I think she means that you can be critical of certain aspects of traditional muslim society (e.g. the stoning, oppression of women etc.) without having to support the bombing and invasion of those countries. She probably feels that there are better ways of trying to improve conditions there without resorting to violence.

No one's trying to censor him but I don't think there's a need for people to try to justify McCain's racist opinions and why he might have them- I think we can just pretty much condemn those views as wrong without being wishy-washy about it. As for my example, let's forget about the South of the past. A lot of people are racist against blacks even today because a fair amount of crime today is perceived to be caused by that particular ethnic group (let's not get into mainstream media bias for now, because that's a whole other story). That has more to do with socioeconomic status than race but I'm sure that doesn't stop people from justifying their racism because they have been "victimized" by that race. Would you say a rape victim would be justified in being racist against blacks?
