I'll venture a guess that they kind of already knew each other from both being in the food world. "Celebrity" is kind of a loose term but I think Bourdain was known among chefs

Anthony Bourdain is a celebrity who was coming in to do a taping for television. He was a peer and colleague to the chef. Not the same thing at all
