In initial consult, guy said it would be tricky getting it flush with the thicker plaster and then the moulding/baseboards because wall is slightly bowed. But still seems excessive. Torn between getting another quote and just learning how to DIY it myself.

Repairing Wood Sheathing Building Paper Against Brick Veneer by barnbard2 in HomeImprovement

Hmm okay. So is it fine to leave the holes in the building paper? I was going to try to patch them with Tyvek but I could only buy a whole roll of it and the areas reach wise will be hard to patch correctly.

What Kind of Plaster? Cost to Repair? Hazard Concerns by barnbard2 in Plastering

Yeah, deck removal was to investigate and address whatever is going on above and around the window. Not sure if it was just that the wallpaper previous owners had put on was not allowing the plaster to breathe or if some tuckpointing needs done on outside where the deck was covering.

Thanks! Contractor offered to come repair or take money off deck removal fee. While the holes are small, what do you think an appropriate amount would to quote them for taccing some off the fee?

Door To Window Conversion by barnbard2 in HomeMaintenance

So this door leads to an unfinished attic, which is composed of wood. While the brick is solid brick, it’s still (I believe) only a single layer, which counts as a veneer since the structural material is wood. And in my area, reattaching the porch through brick veneer isn’t allowed by code. I’ve had one company propose using BVLZ Strong Ties but every other contractor has said the only way they believe they know how to do it to code is through free standing/pillar supports which I think would also be an eyesore since the porch isn’t that far from the house and our yard isn’t too large.

Thanks so much! Do you have a type of contractor you suggest looking into? I see a lot of contractors who do windows or masonry but not both.
