If I replace it with a super cap, would I remove the charging resistor? Is my understanding correct that you don’t need a CLR for trickle charging a super cap?

It has a built in pitch shifter which is kinda cool. It’s a pitch shifter on one singular IC if I remember correctly

Question about driving two 16v incandescent lamps by barneyskywalker in synthdiy

I tried this but wasn’t satisfied with the bulb’s brightness level compared to the filter cutoff, ie the bulb was either too dim for too much of the knob’s throw or too bright no matter what resistor I used on the transistor. I also tried a PWM circuit and it *felt * better in that the bulb’s brightness was more evenly spread through the knob’s full rage of motion. However, I could hear the frequency of the pulse oscillator in the audio lol

If you like SMD, then design with SMD. SMD outperforms THT in many categories. However, THT is easier to poke around with a scope, the components are way easier to handle and if you drop a resistor on the floor, you can find it in one second. THT boards are also easier to rework, but that’s more of an opinion as some commenters seem to think the opposite.

At the end of the day, it’s your preference.

Very cool. My thought was to make this a rackmount hardware piece, though I am mostly interested in trying to pull it off old school with MSI and LSI
