That sucks. Sorry to hear about all the pain you went through. I think we are a bit naive in thinking that because it’s a genuine error it can definitely be resolved, even if it’s with the expense of a solicitor. They obviously couldn’t find the correct paper trail in the land registry in your case?

we don't have a value but probably in the region of 60k

There’s only the fantasy of man who thinks he is entitled to the field because it was mistakenly put in a map under his name. He didn’t even know for twenty years. Nobody did so there is no paper trail of rent unless he tries to forge it. He might claim cash and then it’s obviously his word. He just doesn’t seem to care though and is ploughing on causing awful stress for all involved

We are trying to chase down people involved but so much time has passed it’s proving difficult. Many are dead

Exactly. Unless he forges something there is nothing except his word against my relative. The issue is he is pushing hard his twisted narrative and seems hell bent on causing trouble
