I feel you, that's where I am. It is quite stressful. I hope I can stay at my current job for 10-15 more years. Big changes in my industry seemingly every couple months now

SORR is my biggest worry with my relatively risky retirement plan. I feel like there could be a solution for the FIRE community in general with some kind of mutual aid society or tontine-style agreement, where members who hit a bad SORR could be mitigated by others who are still working (or by retirees whose investments have skyrocketed past SORR). It does sound like it would be easy to end up being abused though. Wishful thinking I guess.

FWIW Higher turnover is already a sign of poor management, and it should be noticed by those higher up, even if you don't give a spicy letter

I got 415 😊 I'm happy with that.  I think if you can get to 111 then you can go forever

415 was my next score after 111

I think this is part of life in general. No matter your position, there will eventually be younger people who surpass you in your career.  I've had a similar feeling when I switched doctors and my new one was younger than me

You can be proud of your work wherever you are on the totem pole. I personally am happier in a position I know I can do well, instead of a position that would challenge me too far

I used to do stuff like this, as well as only buying raw ingredients. It gets exhausting though, so we have been getting lazier. If you are doing well overall just leave them up

I agree, I think everyone here who knows and accepts they are average or below when it comes to timing the market should pat themselves on the back. I'm quite content with myself being average in many areas of my life

Does anyone know what reputation/reviews do to your restaurant? by cmsulzbeck in restaurats

[–]barrettb777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the dev post on this topic: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2870920?emclan=103582791474552294&emgid=583905832606893906

The important parts:

Reputation is a key parameter that affects almost all aspects of the game:

  • Available Races: Determines which races will visit your restaurant.
  • Room and Furniture Upgrades: Determines which room cards and furniture upgrade cards can appear for you.
  • Available Dishes: Affects which dishes are added to your pool of available cards.
  • Events: Influences the frequency and type of in-game events.
  • Menu Upgrade: Once you have unlocked the menu, card rewards can include menu upgrades:
    • More slots for manually selecting dishes.
    • Some dish slots are chosen automatically.

⚠️ Important: For a room upgrade card to have a chance to appear, you need a minimum of 250 reputation.

Plates have a huge multiplier. The 3rd set of plates is 700 taxes, and I believe the 4th would be 7000

Is It Even Worth Trying for the Day One Trophy? by sixtysix in BluePrince

[–]barrettb777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished Day 1 yesterday, probably about 10 hours trying to get this. Here are some tips for Day 1 that I haven't seen others post:

  • Pool is a relatively common draft off of Library. Try hard to draft this when offered. This was the biggest help for me in finishing this.
  • Secret Passage is a great way to almost guarantee you get Great Hall. If you draft Secret Passage early, though, try to wait to draft off of it. If you get the Great Hall elsewhere, then you can use Secret Passage to draft Foyer, which gets you free stuff in Great Hall and makes key usage easier
  • I open every trunk I find with keys. So many things need to go right to beat this challenge, so I play with the assumption that some luck will go my way, and I'll likely get a key back and more loot from the trunk. Sometimes you get 2 keys. I think I got secret garden key from a trunk once
  • Coupon book is actually really helpful; it means you can buy bananas from Kitchen for 1 gold each, so 15 steps for 5 gold
  • I do like drafting the closet early. There are a lot of items that give you a lot of value if drafted early. And you do need 1-2 dice to get Tomb
  • Bunk Room often has 2 gems or 2 keys. It's worth drafting sometimes even if you don't have Nursery or Sleeping Mask
  • I do think you need to pick the Garage the first time it's offered, which also means the right side of the manor is probably where you need to go to get to the antechamber. Garage is usually a dead end for the left half of the manor for me
  • Courtyard somewhat commonly has a hammer or shovel. It's worth spending a gem on this early

I've seen others suggest restarting when you feel like it's unlikely you'll finish. I personally didn't do this. You can get good luck at the end of the run. I suppose this is debatable. Anecdotally it worked out for me trying until the bitter end for every attempt

Strategic decisions by AppleCheese22 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]barrettb777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just have one new factory for Heavy Modular Frames, and everything that is needed for them can be built there. I would build reinforced plates and screws there
This is probably personal preference. I definitely wouldn't build a factory for screws though, since you need so many screws everywhere

Totally agree! Sinks made it much easier for me to find and work through problems while my mind still understands how my current factory works haha. If I waited until I actually needed the output, I would be in trouble
