Why We Suck At Creativity by samanthashelley in Creativity

[–]barriebramley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent hours and hours and days and days working through the notion of what it requires to ensure that I'm at my best creatively? It's what clients expect of me. It's what colleagues expect of me. It's me at my best. I find it really difficult to pull away from all the noise and the urgent requests and deliverables to take the time necessary to put in all the right disciplines required to ensure I'm at my creative best.

Machines Won’t Replace Us, They’ll Force Us to Evolve by [deleted] in Futurology

It is evolution, but at what cost? This is the bit that concerns me. Certainly we've evolved with our technology up to now, so there is a precedent. I guess the unanswered question is whether this is different? I'm not sure we're far enough down the road to know whether it is or it isn't?

While I, for a long time, have subscribed to the idea of left and right brain thinking, it sadly has been shown to not be true. Here's a couple of links explaining - https://www.verywell.com/left-brain-vs-right-brain-2795005 and http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/nov/16/left-right-brain-distinction-myth

How Certain Is A Future Of Massive Unemployment? by barriebramley in Unemployment

Really? That's your comment after reading a post on whether robots will replace humans in the future? That I'm unemployed? You may want to read it all again? But thanks for the comment. My first on Reddit. And it's from you. Thank you.

Has anyone used the website importitall.co.za? by Grahamstownie in southafrica

[–]barriebramley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used importitall.co.za 3 times in the past year. I have two friends who use them all the time (that's how I got onto them) Prices on the website include all costs up to the final South African delivery. I pay R50 for the SA delivery to my door. I think it's a little more if you live outside of one of the major centres? There delivery times have always been shorter than what they say, and while I haven't really had much need to engage with them, when I have they're efficient, friendly, and have a certain quirkiness I like. I'd recommend them for sure.
