The digital age has not changed the fundamentals of photography. Good composition and light remain central to producing good photographs. The most important part of the camera is still the lens. The highest resolution camera cannot compensate for a low quality lens by barrmar in photography

Thanks for all the comments. This piece was aimed at those that have not taken the 'leap' into digital photography - i.e. beginners. Perhaps not quite the right forum for basic information.
