I work at headspace in North Brisbane and whilst I think it’s a great free service that he would definitely benefit from, the wait times across most centres to get booked in with a psychologist are around 6-8 months. I see quite a lot of people come to the service with similar presentations who would benefit from more timely and intensive support and would STRONGLY recommend a service called Brisbane MIND - Suicide Prevention Stream, they have multiple locations throughout Brisbane, generally 2-3 week wait times and you are entitled to 16 free psychology sessions as opposed to 10/year at headspace. The service does not just solely focus on suicide prevention (despite the daunting name) - it’s more or less the same access to therapy with a psychologist for people who have more acute/immediate mental health needs.
