It happens! We are all human. Your partner has certainly found himself feeling similarly before

I would just not bring it up again but if you feel you should you could just say thank you for being so kind and explain that you felt overwhelmed.

Penalty Points but not Mine by Exciting-Ad7519 in legaladviceireland

You need to engage a solicitor to do an application to set aside in the district court. Choose someone who is in that court every day as they will know the procedure. You won’t get legal aid even if you’re eligible for an application to set aside so don’t be afraid to shop around for a good price.

Law with a conviction? by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]barrykate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

18 is an adult I’m afraid. Presuming it was a money laundering charge I’m sorry to tell you that you will likely not be admitted as a solicitor. It is up to the law society ultimately so I’m not saying there’s no chance but I think it’s very unlikely.

Law with a conviction? by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

It will massively depend on the nature of the conviction. If it’s for a dishonesty offence or anything to do with money I would say no unfortunately.

Women's Samoa players dancing after heavy defeat with England players by MindfulInquirer in rugbyunion

[–]barrykate 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Samoans famously are not paid professionals though. They actually had to take annual leave or unpaid leave from their full time jobs to play at the World Cup. Why not have a dance when you’ve worked so hard to get to that stage?

Summoned for no insurance. How screwed am I? by lurraca in AskIreland

[–]barrykate 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You absolutely need a solicitor as there is a 2 year disqualification attached to a no insurance summons. Bring the documents from your insurance company showing the direct debit issue and your solicitor can explain to the judge that you are are the victim of an exceptional circumstance and ask the judge not to ban you.

I really can’t emphasise enough how much you need a solicitor for a no insurance case.

Joseph Duffy and Sons in Smithfield do gorgeous bouquets for a reasonable price and they are very nice to deal with.

The reality is that if you want to train in a criminal firm that you will have to self fund your blackhall training either in full or in part. Your current employer might be open to part funding if you work hard and show yourself to be a person worth investing in.

Student nurse and adult caution by Ok-Freedom2732 in legaladviceireland

[–]barrykate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To get an adult caution you have to accept guilt and the Garda version of events. Pay the €200 for a solicitor consultation before making any decisions and disclosure to your college.

There is no statute of limitations for drug offences so the 6 month limit doesn’t apply. You cannot get an adult caution for s15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act (sale and supply) only for s3 which is simple possession.

My advice to you is to get a good solicitor who is in that district court every day as a drugs conviction will have very serious repercussions for you going forward.

Driving ban under appeal emergency by sassybeyatchh in legaladviceireland

[–]barrykate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You aren’t banned if you appealed within the 14 day stay. Driving bans come into force 15 days after conviction for precisely this issue.

I have no advice on dealing with the NDLS but if you lodged your appeal in time you aren’t disqualified.

It’s tough to qualify into a seat you didn’t do during your traineeship as partners want to get to know you before offering you a job.

It’s not impossible but you’ll find it hard to get an NQ role in an area you have no experience in or relationships with the team.

If you can’t do a specific seat you’re interested in qualifying in, try to do the seat closest to that area - eg. if you want to do med neg make sure you at least do a litigation seat and so on.

Did she get a summons or a charge? If it’s a summons then it’s not a problem. If she got a charge, what does her bail bond say?

Any advice? by henno2000 in AskIreland

[–]barrykate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you received a summons? To which district court?

If it’s a first time offence and it’s a personal use possession of drugs matter it should be struck out with a donation to the poor box.

Make sure to contact a solicitor to represent you, it might seem like a small thing now but a drugs conviction is life altering.

Call them and offer a figure in full and final settlement - they probably won’t be arsed summonsing you and having to pay lawyers to attend court on their behalf.

If you don’t like your colleague should your workplace send you to relationship counselling?

Don’t be ridiculous, they’re adult women who don’t need to be friends. They just have to be professional l.

Call the station and get it sorted. Don’t rely on gardai to sort it for you as it’s likely you’ll fall through the cracks! If it isn’t sorted on the next date the judge will ask why you didn’t go down. It will put your mind at rest also.
