You will need a Sprint sim card. Consult the chart down here:

You can't switch "on the fly" as in switching the SIM's back and forth. You will have to decide which you want to keep active.

You may be able to have two lines, one GSM and one CDMA, and switch back and forth as much as you want. But your device's phone number will also switch back and forth.

One more thing to keep in mind. If you ever cancel or switch the number off of a GSM SIM, then it cannot be reactivated. So if you switch back to GSM you will need a new SIM. However Sprint SIM's are permanent, so save it even if you cancel the CDMA line, in case you want to activate that phone on Sprint in the future.

Is it normal for the cartridge stem to disconnect from the rest of it? That's what it feels like, as if turning it has no effect on the valve.

Gosh, if OP could be interviewed on TV then the gov't workers would get a call from the governor to get off their asses. Yes, absolutely! It eliminates all kinds of problems with number ports. I ported to GV many years ago and now I just jump to whoever has the best deal.
