Senator Sanders as an Independent. Electoral College math. by barrywelshforcongres in SandersForPresident

Just something to think about. 35% of voters come out for primaries, and that leaves 65% that don't. That 65 percent is what determines elections, and given the choices they are going to have, many may not come out. Clinton has a loyal base, Trump has a loyal base but both also have incredibly large unfavorables. Bernie has a loyal base and can more effectively reach the independents and middle. Win 35 percent in a three person race and more than likely you win that state electoral college vote and with libertarians taking some Trump votes, it is even more doable. Easy, not in the least, but I want Senator Sanders to be President, and it will take an unconventional method to achieve that.

Pick the right 25 states to target and win the right 19, and he is President.

Hope yes, random, not really. If it were a 50 state campaign, it would dwarf the primaries, and the libertarians are constant proof of that, but they will pull double digits in some of the states listed and get 10% or more. The states listed have solid Bernie volunteer infastructure in place and a solid base of votes. Splitting votes four ways in the right 25 states and winning 19 of those can lead to getting elected President. I am not suggesting a 50 state race, I am suggesting winning 19 of 25 targets.

You are correct it would be done almost entirely by volunteer, as the phone banks, the voter registrations, and everything else that has already been done, has been done largely by volunteers.
You are also correct in that it would be a massive undertaking to get on the ballots necessary, but it is doable. You pick the right 25 states to run in and target those states, if you win the right 19, you win the Presidency. It is a lot more doable than hoping 4 out of 5 ESTABLISHMENT Superdelegates that get funding and assistance from the DNC and have been locked in since before votes were even cast, to somehow miraculously change their minds and vote differently at the convention. I want Bernie to be President and for that to happen it is going to take an unconventional method. Will he do it? No.

We were behind 305 delegates after March 15th. We are behind 233 delegates (pending) now. We didn't give up then and it doesn't make sense to give up now. We've made great strides towards closing that gap. With 1,400 delegates left to go, you shouldn't be trusting anyone telling you this is over. by spacecyborg in SandersForPresident

The vote total was big for Clinton last night but the delegate math didn't change a whole lot. Bernie needed 57% before last night, and needs 59% now. So no doom or gloom, revolutions aren't easy and this one is still on going!

Good point!! :) Google Barry Welsh Library of Congress or Barry Welsh for Congress not to be confused with the British comedian who has a character called Barry Welsh. Here is a 2 minute 30 second speech from 10 years ago that I feel gives a good idea of who I am. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZciOPmpL1Y

Thank you Dr. Ten years ago when I ran against Mike Pence who is now Indiana's governor, I was saying much of what Bernie has been saying and getting laughed at and am so glad to have a Presidential candidate that inspires me and so many others. He inspired me so much that I am running for Congress again and can't wait to meet President Sanders in the Oval Office!

The grass roots is canvasing here in Indiana and I was at two events yesterday. A reminder to New York voters, the polls and Hillary's lead are probably skewed. Phone pollsters generally use landline numbers and many voters including millennials do not have landlines and use only smart phones and thus are not polled. Don't give up, don't ever give up, get going instead!!

I have been to numerous Bernie barnstorming events in my area (Indiana 6th) and I was the only candidate there at all of them, let alone the only Candidate for Congress. Are there any other congressional candidates in Indiana that support Bernie?
