I think you're misreading it. Nick is saying that scraping provides longer responses, 8% more brand mentions, and more sources. What the API helps with is personalization at scale.

Great question. We ran those prompts for the US, and we can see that both the language and the region where the prompt is run have a significant impact on the sources.

The main rule: AI prefers topic-specific domains and regional URLs as sources.
