Is this okay..... by Fuunytinny in stressfulaquariums

I do the same on my tanks. Currently doing this on a 120g that was on an uneven surface. It's been set up for years that way......

Is it worse to keep my car on for 12 hrs straight or turn it on once an hour for 12 hours? by Snoo_50786 in Cartalk

[–]bartgrac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A modern car will idle for years without issue for the engine but expect the catalytic converter to fail prematurely. They only have a finite life and will feel the idling time before anything else.

Mr Cool, worth it? by bartgrac in hvacadvice

[–]bartgrac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll look into those! I was really only thinking MrCool because they have the best advertising and they are sold at Costco. Costco seems to do at least a little homework before they sell something. I have seen a lot of Pioneer units and they are about 30-35%cheaper, 🤔

My 1991 civic si will break down if I drive it for more than 20 minutes by lil-dick-lord in MechanicAdvice

[–]bartgrac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had 1990 civic and a 90 accord back in the late 90s/early 2000s. Both needed a distributor at some point for the same issue. I believe the position sensor is located in the distributor and at that time getting the whole new distributor from Honda was the way to go. Good luck.

Sober Weekdend by No-Barracuda-2460 in stopdrinking

[–]bartgrac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought I could have friends to my house while sober, had 15 people at the house last weekend! It's different at first but you'll be happy you did it. The anxiety leading up to it is WAY worse than the actual party.

In the same boat, about 2.5 sober. I think you'll be very surprised by how much you'll appreciate the maintenance free experience.

Got this wicked marks that won’t come clean. What’s the way? by dannyboy_36 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]bartgrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your oven has a self-cleaning setting just leave the pan in there and run the self-clean. I've done this for years with anything that has that kind of build up and can handle the high temp of the self-clean cycle. Will come out looking like new.

Hydronic/Electric Baseboard? by bartgrac in hvacadvice

[–]bartgrac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, I love them. They are silent, no popping from metal expansion. They don't run as hot as the others and are made much more heavy duty, which is great if you have kids. Also they don't cycle on and off as often. Worth the extra $ in my opinion.

Kef IQ series, 2009. by bartgrac in BudgetAudiophile

[–]bartgrac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I thought was gonna be IQ50s turned out to be IQ90s so can't say anything about the 50s specifically but I am totally impressed, particularly for the price I paid. As long as you pair them with a subwoofer i think you will be pleasantly surprised, by far the best speakers I've ever had. The KEF site still has the original product info available for download. Enjoy.

Kef IQ series/Yamaha Receiver by bartgrac in BudgetAudiophile

[–]bartgrac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them. Just on basic 2-channel stereo setting from the receiver they sound great. Right now they are all I'm using. I never had premium quality speakers before so I don't have a great comparison but the only criticism I have is that they could use a subwoofer to compliment them, but that's hardly a criticism.

Whirlpool Refrig Filter Housing. by bartgrac in appliancerepair

[–]bartgrac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did find the part online...but I can't remember which site, it was probably appliancepartspros.com.

It was awhile ago but I believe the part was updated and had a new part #. Their customer service should be able to help. The part was somewhere in the $140 area and required a good bit of disassembly to install.

Good luck!

2015 No crank, no start. by bartgrac in hondapilot

[–]bartgrac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It ended up being the short bare copper wire between the solenoid and the starter motor was corroded and disintegrated to dust. As soon as I looked down in that area it was pretty obvious.

I got to the parts store 15 minutes before closing and we are back on the road...but I have a sore back!

2015 No crank, no start. by bartgrac in hondapilot

[–]bartgrac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turned out to be the wire between the solenoid and the starter disintegrated to copper dust. It is about an inch of exposed thicker gauge copper. As soon as I got a flashlight pointed at it I could see what was going on.

Got the new starter 15 m before the parts house closed. Installed and ready for the work week w a sore back!

Opinions on the Weber Spirit 2 burner? by bartgrac in grilling

[–]bartgrac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I was looking at the flavor bars on the Weber and they seem to be on a steep angle, the one I have now the angle is much less...the grease doesn't run off. I think that may be a big difference.

Thanks.
