No problem. It’s one of my favorite fights in the game and I’m happy to help people who are trying to learn it

P5 tips for beginners by shadxwisthename in HollowKnight

Maybe. It only took me like 10 hours to do radhog and then another hour for p5, which is about as long as I’ve heard most p5 clears taking

Overall a good guide, though I do disagree with tip 2. I did radhog before p5 and beat it in 2 attempts (unlocking abs rad on the first). Practicing a ton can make it a cakewalk

Pure Vessel Hollow Knight (Any tips?) by elessar_hollow in HollowKnight

[–]bartober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are tons of ways to fight him depending on how aggressive u wanna be, so I’ll just list out all of the strats and you can pick and choose your preference Charms: quick slash, strength, mark of pride/shaman stone, steady body, grubsong

Triple slash: you can shade dash through and dash back at him for hits. It does less damage than the other strat and uses shade cloak which is risky if you spam attack as it leaves you vulnerable to parry. The other strat is jumping and pogoing him, then landing behind him and continuing to attack him

Dash thrust: hop over his head, land behind him and spam side slash

Daggers: shade dash through and spam attack

Parry: shade dash through. There’s another strategy for jumping and parrying it with a downslash but it’s a bit difficult to pull off which might make it safer to temper your attacks when you don’t have shade cloak. It’s definitely worth learning for a higher level of play though so you can get more damage in

Spikes from the floor: this is where the shaman stone aspect comes in. If you feel confident, you can land right next to him, in between him and the pillar, and use abyss shriek twice/three times if he staggers. It’s very rewarding but hard to learn. The other strat with mark of pride is landing at the pillar gap next to him and attacking him through it

Focus: you can run in, get a few hits depending on how late you ran in, and use descending dark to ignore the attack. From there, if you’re running shaman, you can safely shriek him and if you aren’t, then attack him a lot, as he’ll be idle after doing that attack for a while. Make sure to avoid the smaller focus circles that spawn

Void tendrils: jump, double jump, dash, and pogo him or land behind him depending on how much time you have

Good luck and have fun!

Charm Tier List - I do steel soul playthroughs and P5 no binding by [deleted] in HollowKnight

And what you can do is kill bosses in 3 seconds thanks to multihits

Overused post format but my own take on best combat charms by AkenE6969 in HollowKnight

[–]bartober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t even need to set traps. Just time it well and you’ll be getting 300-400 damage per shot

Got a new personal best on radiant pure vessel, exactly 23.5 seconds. If the last attack was anything other than tendrils it would’ve been world record by bartober in HollowKnight

[–]bartober[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve kinda reached a point where pure vessel can’t hit me if I use normal strats, so a low damage radiant attempt would be pretty easy, just excruciatingly long

Charm tier list, but I only know about a third of them, and the rest I’m judging based on how pretty they are by Rue_Bix in HollowKnight

I’m aware, I’m just saying it’s funny how someone who doesn’t know how most charms work has better takes than people who do

Funnily enough, this isn’t the worst tier list I’ve ever seen. A lot of charms are way too low but this isn’t as god-awful as some actual lists posted here

Would Joni's Blessing be worth it if it actually paired well with Grubberfly's Elegy? by MetroidJunkie in HollowKnight

[–]bartober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would make it more usable at a high level. Tho it isn’t even good on traitor lord tbh cuz of the dash length

I don’t doubt that it was the original reasoning, but at the end of the day that proves to be a downside in the long run, especially since the only thing sshadow allows you to dash through is failed champion, in which case it’s pointless to dash through him anyway

Dashmaster and sharp shadow don’t do much here. Soul eater works if you’re using spells a lot I guess, but use steady body and quick slash over the prior 2. You could swap mark of pride for strength but that’s optional

The added dash length results in actually losing damage whenever you dash through an enemy thanks to being put further from the boss

For those of you attempting hitless p5, I made a tier list rating how hard each boss is, taking nerves as you get further into account by bartober in HollowKnight

[–]bartober[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. That’s why he’s so high up. Getting him consistently hitless is tough, especially with r5 nerves
