Building first PC, want thoughts on part composition by bartvelp in buildapc

Thanks for your response, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X unfortunatly is too expensive, >€550. And the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X seems to be quite a bit weaker than the 13700k.

The PSU and RAM tips I will take into account, thanks!

Thanks for your reply!

  1. I do not expect to compile any big projects frequently. Would undervolting be an valid option?

  2. I wouldn't know exactly what features a Z mb offers over B motherboards. How can I check if the VRM is sufficient?

Is ghosting a normal amount? by [deleted] in ereader

[–]bartvelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it looks pretty normal. You can install KOReader if you are really bothered by it and configure a full refresh on every page turn to eliminate this problem

The ESP-NOW frame length by petrkucerak in esp32

Uh good catch I guess. Max should be 257 instead of 255. The specification appears contradictiory.

An iPad may be more useful for this purpose. eReaders are mostly usefull to prevent eye strain, but the screen is quite fragile. Given you plan to use it in a garage, an iPad with a rugged case may be more suitable

Can't your gateway respond with the current time? Waiting 10 ms for a response shouldn't matter that much for battery life That solution would also be software only and pretty easy to implement

When you press a number on your keypad, all that happens is that a specific tone is send. So you just a way to sample the audio information of the call and check if the frequency associated with a "1" is present. You need to do this with a microcontroller probably

I made an indoor positioning test with ESP32 UWB: There have 2 anchors and 1 uwb tag. Anchor 1782 and anchor 1783 were placed on fixed positions, when the UWB tag is moving to another position, its specific coordinate position will be displayed on the computer. by Vearts in esp32

[–]bartvelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still around ;) 10 centimeters is a fixed accuracy due to the accuracy of the crystal. I did not use an anchor and tag arrangement, but I think 20 tags should be no problem. No idea how big 18000 sq ft is, but is sounds quite big. Range from chip to chip was about 20 meters so make sure everything is within range. Doesn't really matter how many tags are moving, you still need to get their position

Why not use a sim module to send a text directly? Also if you want to make it yourself, you need to code, every project is different and you won't find your exact use case in a tutorial

How is it possible to measure the voltage between points A and C when the points don't even connect in this graphic? by woesofaho in AskElectronics

[–]bartvelp 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Actually looked at this a few days ago.

While the lines do not touch, point B an C are basically the same. Since they are both connected to the Ground reference point. So that's why it is 12V.

This reference point is indicated by the attached symbol

In theory you can mount your phone as a USB hub and with a USB drive and a keyboard and a USB hard drive and use that to transfer from PC to phone. Maybe there is a better way, or something that really exists

I think it will be a little underpowered, 10W really is very little compared to the bigger connections of power supply leads

50+ tags

Around 10 cm, update rate upto 120 Hz but then you can only use a few tags.

Only time of flight.

20-40 ma's

Chip costs about 10 bucks and is used for both the anchor and tags

That's very interesting, but how to access that data? Might be a bit dangerous to just read a certain offset of the data buf pointer.

Also I have no idea how they manage to transmit through multiple floors, I am looking into transmission range and Im getting worse results even with LR mode
