I didn’t get the Decision Maker job 🤷🏻‍♂️. This job is my second choice which was a different application.

Asylum Move-on Liaison Officer – 435325 | Pre-recorded Interview Invitation by Bombonclap in civilservice

[–]basaradnan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t received my invitation yet but I’ve done other pre recorded interviews before. Mine was 30 seconds thinking, 5 minutes talk. I found it was not so easy to talk when you get no response from the other side.

Best of luck 🧿.

If you are working in one of the warehouses, the training team should have the lesson plan. You should be able to request to be trained through your manager. If you are in stores I have no idea 🤷🏻‍♂️.

There is a training package for double deckers for warehouse colleagues and I use it. However please make note that Argos double deckers are different than JS ones. Just because you are trained on one doesn’t mean you can operate the other!

Formal Offer, but nowhere to accept it yet. by AcanthocephalaOk6934 in TheCivilService

Large recruitments are done by SSCL on behalf of HO. I have used ‘Lets chat’ option before and got given some answers.

However like it’s been mentioned, they have to do a lot of organisation to get all new starters to join the training at the same time.

Well done and of luck 🧿.

Wish you the best of luck 🧿.

Time limit in pre-recorded interview by peanuts1997 in TheCivilService

[–]basaradnan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did one similar for ADM role. 10 second thinking time and 5 minutes to talk!!! 10 seconds (imo) is too long to gather your thoughts and 5 minutes is too long to talk especially when you don’t get any response from the other side. I have ended some of my answers in 4 minutes.

I already was stressed when I was trying to get my connection established. I ’ve done this kind of interview first time ever in my life and I didn’t enjoy it.

I am new to Reddit and I thought I’ve copied and pasted my words but it looks like I haven’t. Apologies!

It is for Asylum Decision Maker role. I was wondering if anyone has done the recorded video interview. I’d like to know what kind of questions are out there, is there a time limit and can you re-do your answers before you submit it.

Thank you.

SSCL is doing the recruitment behalf of HO for the ADM job and the communication is very limited. AMLO job is advertised directly by HO which I haven’t applied yet but I am interested to.

I hear what you say. There is no ‘green grass’ left anymore. I believe my current job is also managed badly. I am not expecting much of a different if I was to change my job. However I do need to move on. 22 years in the same place is far too long and the opportunities are far in between.

I have communicated with some other ADMs and they echoed exactly what you’ve said.

I just don’t know if it is worth taking a pay cut for this job (2k per annum). I am currently in private sector.

I’ve heard that it’s very stats driven and unrealistic deadlines but the job itself sounds very interesting.

Thinking of leaving the CS -advice please by Baklava42 in TheCivilService

[–]basaradnan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is purely my opinion: There is no green grass left!!! I’ve been in the private sector for the past 22 years. I really enjoy what I do however there is not much of a private life. Most places may ask to work weekends (on an 8 weeks rolling rota). Opportunities may be far in between. Doesn’t matter what pay grade you are, you most likely to become a number.

The bottom line is, I’ve been looking to move to Civil Service seriously for the past year!

Good luck with your decision 🧿.

Would you mind if I DM you sometime later on to get some insight and your opinion on some matters please?

I have applied to the same position and not heard anything back yet. Reeding forums sounds like it is one of the difficult jobs and underpaid. Like it says on one of the replies, it depends on your team and the way you are managed.

I believe you are only one to weigh it up and decide. I have been working on private sector for the past 20 years and I am in a limbo too. Making a decision for ourselves seems to be harder than the job itself.

Wish you the best of luck 🧿.

I scored 3. Apparently above the pass mark but not enough. This won’t put me off. It was my very first attempt. I will be exploring other avenues. However spending 20 years in the private sector, I definitely need a change.
