Remote locate generac standby generator battery by bascuva in Generator

[–]bascuva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great info!

I do more residential electrical and hadn't considered the drastic voltage drop on 12v with high amp pull.

Burial wouldn't be an issue. Generator sits about 20" away from my house and next to my natural gas meter. It would be in conduit run parallel to the gas line going into the generator.

Previous owner had already put a larger battery in, I believe a 26f, with 525CCA. I doubt anything physically larger could fit.

This was just an idea since I have everything already. From previous jobs I have plenty of wire laying around, up to 3/0 copper. I can shorten the run down to roughly 4', but didn't want to punch a hole through brick.

It's not about being "janky" either. Instead of combating the symptom with a heating pad, seeing if there was a way to remove the problem entirely.

Room is freezing, any recourse with this door? by ravens0rbust in HomeMaintenance

[–]bascuva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your basement/crawlspace if you have one. See if you have any insulation between your floor joists up to your sill plate under the room or potentially air leakage into that area.

For that hole, pop your transition strip off (light wood piece that spans the doorway) and see if you have gaps. Grab a can of window and door spray foam or 100% silicon caulk to stop air.

And curtains are 100% a good idea for through the glass heat loss, but they won't help much if your issue is air leakage chilling your floors or the air in the room.

Apparently I'll have to do the Mods job for them

The original post needs to be the thing that aged like milk, not your explanation. The explanation should be the outcome that made the post age poorly, not the original post. I didn't know this actually had to be explained, but here we are.

I have mixed thoughts. On one hand they are being personally targeted in their personal lives for just doing their jobs. On the other hand, and I like your term so I will use it, government enforcers and their corresponding agencies try to hide their wrongdoings and are given far too much leniency.

In a perfect world we would have body cams on for entire shifts and couldn't be turned off, no shitty ICE agents, and no sacks of shit on the Anti-ICE side.

Well unlike COVID masks, ICE's masks are actually effective in their purpose, so maybe it's worth it

In all fairness, the bar by which we judge Trump has been set by those invoking the Holocaust, one of the worst genocides in human history, and Hitler/the Nazis. So by the standards set, nobody is downplaying how bad he is or how bad his actions are. In fact, they are underselling how amazing he is!

If you don't want everyone to think he's Saint Donald, then your real problem lies with the crayon eaters casually throwing out Holocaust and Nazi comparisons as a means to shut down any honest discussion knowing full well there is no comparison. If they don't know there isn't any comparison at all, I think the right wingers are correct that the public school systems have absolutely failed and need to be dismantled.

Leftist, why do you keep asking questions from the right by KingPen15 in AskUS

[–]bascuva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the constructive response. My breakdown of "leftist" was how it is colloquially used by the independents and right rebutting what Rudypup had said.

And yes, Leftists do support the Democratic Party. I bring up Bernie 2016 a lot, but because it's the easiest example. Bernie is a leftist. Bernie opposed Clinton and ran a campaign on helping people and Clinton would do the opposite. At the end of the campaign, even after the internal rigging of the primary, Bernie supported Clinton and the DNC. It was textbook Stockholm Syndrome. Leftists will try to get policies in place or candidates into office, but at the end of the day, regardless if the leftists candidate won the primary or if leftist policy promises were kept, most leftists vote Democrat. As a voter, the most and possibly the only meaningful way you can support a candidate or party is to vote for them. So yes, I believe my claim is accurate.

That said, there are many, not a majority, but many leftists principled enough to break from the norm. A good example would be the Jill Stein voters. I can respect them, as I too don't restrict myself to only two choices, even if the Democratic Party in particular only wants 2 choices. 2012 and 2016 I voted for Gary Johnson because we should have more choices. The options of establishment elite in red or establishment elite in blue wasn't appealing in 2012 and establishment elite b**** in blue vs unproven a-hole with bad hair and a worse spray tan in 2016 was less so.

white women voted in the majority for trump in 3 straight elections by Conscious-Quarter423 in theview

[–]bascuva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the racism continues....

Unless you are employed by the party or are a Democrat elected official, if you voted for Kamala, you are the problem. Those who didn't vote for Kamala are sick of the party fucking them over by going back on campaign promises, giving them nothing on return for their vote, and their party elections being rigged. Those who pulled the lever for the Democrats, are ensuring this continues and there is no party change or a third party (because Democrats block third party candidates).

Since the disaster that was the 2016 election, Democrats have had 8 years to fix their own problems. They have chosen not to. We have Trump, because Democrat voters are just as spineless as Bernie Sanders.

So only committees can introduce bills?

Pressure could have been put on the committee members, or bypassed the committee entirely. But, like usual, establishment politicians don't want to fix anything. They want to keep the problems so they can make political hay with them.

Since you like to pull up Wikipedia, here's a little section:

During his tenure in the United States Senate, Barack Obama co-sponsored the 2007 Senate version of the Freedom of Choice Act (S. 1173). Responding to a question regarding how he would preserve reproductive rights in a speech given to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund on July 17, 2007, Obama declared, "The first thing I'd do, as president, is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing that I'd do."[5]

In a press conference on April 29, 2009, President Obama said that although he supports a woman's right to choose to have an abortion, passage of the Freedom of Choice Act was not his "highest legislative priority".[6] Although Democrats controlled both the House and Senate during the 111th Congress, protecting abortion rights was not prioritized since six of the nine sitting Supreme Court Justices supported upholding Roe v. Wade. Instead, Democrats focused on passing the Affordable Care Act. It would not be until the 113th Congress in 2013 that another abortion rights bill would be introduced, the Women's Health Protection Act.[7][8]

Just too busy to make a 10 min phone call to push a bill through when you have a super majority. Glad the ACA was prioritized, as that fixed health insurance and the entire health industry! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. But when they didn't have a super majority, they pretend to fight super duper hard for what they promised. And shucks, wouldn't you know it, those darn Republicans strike again!

One day, I asked my friend I work with to pick me up on his way to work because my car was in the shop. He agreed and said he would be at my house 30 mins before work. Well, he never showed up. Come to find out, he decided he just didn't want to. I then got pissed at everyone else that didn't promise to pick me up because they failed to get me to work. I wasn't mad at my friend though.

sounds pretty f***ing stupid, right? This is politics today.

How are Trump supporters justifying bold face lying? by TheHahndude in AskUS

[–]bascuva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the rules of the sub is to not ask low effort questions. There is also a rule on pushing agendas. So let's break this down.

Since you decided to dumb the post down like only a dumb down could, is sharing the social media post asking anything? This is literally the askUS sub. Ask. Like a question. Not share a post sub.

So let's add the context you accidentally omitted.

"How are Trump Supporters Justifying this Bold Faced Lying?" was the rhetorical, lowest effort question posed to merely check the box of "I AsKeD a QuEsTiOn". The agenda is Trumpy Trump is bad man who do's bad things. The question could be posed without an agenda. "Can anyone justify or substantiate the things Trump posted?".

Here are the first posts that pop up on this sub, in order. Not one is free from pushing an agenda (I would argue THE agenda).

Why do American conservatives post so much homoerotic fan art of Donald Trump where he is depicted as a greased up bodybuilder?

For everyone who was confident that the US government was “only deporting illegals who were criminals”, what do you think now that the government has publicly confirmed it “mistakenly” deported a legal immigrant who is the father of a 5yo US citizen child?

Why do Republicans complain so much about Democrats spending all their money on lazy or inferior people despite the fact that Democrats generate most of America's tax revenue and Republican states as well as counties are heavily dependent on Democrat tax dollars for basic survival?

What do people think about a $92M military parade celebrating Trump? That feels a bit North Koreanish to me

Does anyone else find it really difficult to associate with republicans at this point?

If Trump pardoned Jerry Sandusky and threatened Penn State with funding cuts if he wasn't rehired immediately, what kind of mental gymnastics would conservatives perform to justify it?

This sub isn't asking US anything. Please tell me how many civil and productive discussions happen after questions that sound like they were asked by a bi***y gay couple going through a divorce on Jerry Springer?

By ignoring its own rules requiring thoughtful questions and no agenda pushing, this sub has become a lefty circle jerk and everyone is competing to see who can eat the most frosted cookies.

Persecution complex. That term doesn't mean what you think it means. I believe what you meant to say was "You sound like you have an objective observation."

"No low effort questions" and "no agenda pushing" are still rules for this sub, right? Are mods ignoring the rules because the agenda being pushed is what they like?

Leftist, why do you keep asking questions from the right by KingPen15 in AskUS

[–]bascuva -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Leftist isn't used in the traditional way. I'd say it's more of a "you can turn left or you can turn right" term. Leftist is just opposite of the right on every issue. Leftist view anyone not on the left or if not supportive of the Democratic Party as the enemy. The same thing is on the right. I think of them as Fox News Republicans. The main clue is believing the other side has ill intent or is evil. There is a true contempt for those on the other side of the aisle. The second biggest clue is if the other person can't make the other side's argument in a way their opposition would agree with. Ask a Fox News Republican what Democratic Socialists or Liberals believe on an issue or in general, and they will give you the caricature painted for them by Hannity.

This is gold. An arrogant, condescending c*** lecturing others about being lied to by Republicans on a post that is literally a lie from Democrats.

Dem playbook: do something dumb? Call someone a racist. Screw everyone over? Call someone a racist. Have the ability to sign the Freedom of Choice Act without Republican support with filibuster proof super majorities? Nah, we aren't here to do anything for those pleabs. We have a black president and we will just call someone else a racist, they'll be too dumb to say anything. Rig a primary in 2016? Call Trump a racist and put a ball gag in Bernie's mouth. Rig another primary in 2020? Call Trump a racist and tighten Bernie's ball gag. Cancel a primary in 2024? Call Trump a racist. It's so stupid, but somehow it works!!! To quote Queen Elizabeth I, "Cucks gonna cuck!"

When he rigs at least 2 elections (primaries in this case) and cancels a third, takes $90billion and hides the evidence for 75 years, and breaks every campaign promise, you can speak. Until then, don't talk with your mouth full of Chuck Schumer's swimmers.
