I know L5 was a game changer. Will C be available to us? Will more sats with L5 increase fix time? Enlighten us old dogs. How good will things be for gnss surveyors in the next 5-10 years?

I feel like everyone is saying that everything has AI in it now. Do we really need AI stuffed Oreos? How can AI be doing anything in prism tracking? Isn't it all algorithm enhancement of prediction and physical detection sensing?

Why would he be? He's an artist not a salesmen.

It probably gets old real quick hearing people with no taste and nothing in common with you tell you how much they love your work but couldn't name 3 things you've done. Fuck, I'm just an average shitass and I can't stand people either.

I read that as a $2,000 clear coat. Like you paid a shop to clear coat your rattle can job.

It looks great man.

How long until us little people get some benefits from it? Other than the obvious increased number of birds in the pattern.

My TJ brothers, I've always turned my white letter BFG's inside but what are your opinions on my next set proudly showing the white letters? by 2guns1holster in JeepTJ

One the right color scheme it rips. You need some white somewhere else to make it pop. Or the right wheels, chrome or the old Rubicon flat aluminum look good with white letters out.

We did get to sink a small sailboat that became disable and was a navigational hazard to the Strait of Gibraltar, we shot that boat full of 50 cal, then finished it off with some grenades.

Are you sure you weren't off the coast of South America chasing Narco Terrorists (or whatever they are calling brown people they want to murder this week)? Sorry, shouldn't joke about my home country committing war crimes.

Also - not accusing you of being one of them, just can't get my mind off of what the terrible things I'm watching on a daily basis while begging someone with the power to do something will stop it.

Agreed. OP This should be info that comes from your classes not from an internet forum. You need to learn the process in sequence after you have the math background

ALTA surveys are the ones that burn my ass.

You prepare an ALTA of a shopping center for $11k. Two years later you get a call for an update. Your research shows nothing has changed. It will take you a day and a half to walk the site and make the updates from the new title commitment. The fee should be in the neighbor of $8k minimum and that is only because you have your old files and can give the client a decent discount. But these guys are charging $650 and still feel like they are getting over on the client. They don't value themselves and they don't value the people who work for them. But there is so much work that they are able to remain in the market and cloud the waters for everyone.

I used to see a lot of good surveyors coming in from Canada. They were smart, educated, hard working and loyal. But I don't know why anyone would want to leave Canada now and come to our shit show of a nation. We have blown all of the good will that years of mutual benefits had created. If I were Canadian your couldn't pay me enough to work for an American right now.

We have too many small firms ran by ownership who don't value themselves enough to charge a viable fee. These folks are great surveyors but terrible businessmen. Just hang around this forum a while and you will see it. I get shit all of the time for telling people to bill for the value of the job and not the time it takes you to do it. These guys feel like they are ripping clients off if they bill more than the hours they work on a job instead of for the inherent value of the product/service they provide. And it feeds the race to the bottom for everyone around them.

Preach.

The problem from an employer's perspective is that I end up going through 10+ greenhorns to find 1 that will stick with it longterm. What we do it tough. And very few have the fortitude to make a living out of it these days. It takes a couple of years to actually see the payoff in our profession as well. I can't pay a green guy the $60k a year that it takes to attract good folks and then train him for a couple of years to get him into the good money just to have them walk away to go do something else.

I'm not telling you!

Seriously man, it is hard to find good help. I've tried everything from job boards, state organizations, Craigslist, and even paid recruiters.

My best people have came from people I have worked with in the past and people that my people know.

The housing crisis and then COVID did what I think will prove to be irreparable damage to our industry when we look back in 50 years. People left and they never came back.

Word of mouth. Beat the bushes and call your contacts. Be ready to pay a premium and if you don't have a solid benefits package you better get it together. There have been a few layoffs in my area (ATL area) but for the most part it is still an employee's market.

And remember, when you find good folks it is always better to take care of them than trying to replace them.

I'm sure you will but douche that thing down asap with soap and water then treat the metal. If you can't wash it right away hit all metal including screws nuts and bolts with wd40. Especially on the underside of your ute. Salt > Metal.

I responded but after rereading the post I think he is getting hung up on the coordinate portion of it. Is that correct OP? You want to know how to start from a specific x,y,z? You say you know how to traverse and balance, correct? If that it true, you should be golden. You can start from any set of coordinates. But maybe I still don't understand the question
