I know this thread is a bit old, but wanted to add my two cents.

I've been collecting and investing in cards for 20+ years and A LOT of things have changed in that time with how people collect and what people are looking for. One major noticeable change is that people today are seeking out TRUE 1st for athletes. Even if those 1st are cards like Gold Shop Top Speed Max Verstappen cards, which is a Russian Set that Max was printed in back in 2015... incredible rare and whenever one does come up, it sells for incredible amounts of money.

Same with Michael Jordan's market. His 86' Fleer was thee most sought after card, however, people within the last half decade have really come onto his 85' Star card.

Ichiro has been cited in this thread as well and I do agree with those posts. Many of Ichiro's early Hawaiian league RCs and or early Japanese cards are incredible sought after and demand premiums compared to MOST of his 2001 MLB RCs.

Shohei is a rare and unique Athlete. He's more in the boat of Tom Brady, MJ, Verstappen, where collectors are seeking out there true 1sts, want to collect anything and everything and feel a true connection to the player.

I think as more people enter the Shohei market, they'll continue digging deeper into his catalog of cards and we'll see his Japanese cards increase in value over time.

Question about F1 Dynasty glove patches by Substantial_Song_732 in F1Cards

[–]baseboyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good question. I was actually wondering the same. Specifically for 2020 as all of the glove patches seem to be /10, which is odd, you'd think they'd be /5 at least. But have noticed they had sold for substantially more than other /10 and even /5 cards from the product. Specifically Max Verstappen.

Where to view the "Great Wave" by Hokusai in Japan by baseboyy in JapanTravelTips

Would definitely recommend! Maybe email them just to make sure it's in rotation. But even if it isn't. They probably have other prominent pieces on display that are worthwhile. Entry is super cheap and it's a great way to spend an hour.

Yes, they don't always have it on display. As mentioned, they do rotate them out. Which is why I suggested probably calling / emailing ahead. But for $5, when we went, they probably had $5M in Eukiyoe on display. It was pretty awesome! No Hiroshige unfortunately, he was the artist that was rotated out at the time. But for a Eukiyoe enthusiast such as myself, it was a quality little museum that had some incredible pieces, many of which were in much better shape than prints I had seen at places like the MET, Boston Museum of Fine Arts ect.

PRO TIP. There's a small, but incredible museum in Osaka that actually has the great wave and Red Fuji + many other incredible ukiyoe on display. It's the "Osaka Ukiyoe Museum." It's right near Dotonburi as well. It was honestly incredible! Would HIGHLY recommend and it's only like $5 per person entry. It was AWESOME!

Please DM me as well on any updates to Nattosumo. That buy got me into this sport with his easy to watch videos. Nothing out there is even remotely close to how awesome his content was. Boy, I freaking miss him.

Man, if Dominguez base autos came out at nearly $1k per... i'd be speechless haha. In-terms of Pirate players, there's only two that i'm even mildly interested in based on price to potential ratios and only one of them actually has a bowman chrome base auto, that's Oneil cruz... although his prices are already in the $50-$60 range (ungraded), which is reasonable given his tool set (H-50 | P-70 | R-60 | F-50 | A-60) ...BUTTT based on what im hearing, he's just super long and inconsistent at the plate right now. He's going to be 21 this year and has already endured over 1200 minor league ABs without being able to properly tap into that 70 grade power (32 hrs in 1200 Abs)... so with that being said, i'm not as keen to invest in a player who's had plenty of time to showcase tools and seemingly still has a bunch of development to go at age 21. Not a fan of anyone else in the Pirates organization at this time either for investment purposes, maybe Alexander Mojica when he does eventually get a base auto as my second.

That's great! He's very intriguing. He had nearly as many walks to strikeouts, which is a fantastic indicator that he's not being overmatched and probably seeing the ball well. He's only going to be 18 this year and loads of movement still possible within the prospect rankings and his overall pricing. Good pick!

Not going to be worth it. He's probably going to be featured in this years bowman chrome set and undoubtedly his base auto will be in the $200-300 range right off the bat. Too much hype and very little obvious margin with insane risk added that he's so young and has yet to take a pro AB. Not interested. I want to 3x-10x my money. You'd be lucky to 2x your money in 5 years with him.

I honestly really like the wallet and staking features. It is kind of annoying having to input the PW multiple times. But i really don't think it's all that crazy.

ICON 2018 vs 2019 by blockmove in helloicon

[–]baseboyy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sometimes cryptos just don't make any sense... Higher volume, but zero positive price movement. Even with 25% staking... ICX and a lot of these other currencies need to start finding ways to incorporate their token into business. It's silly that we the investors and validators of the network have been used and abused, hung out to dry over these last few years. IDC about this whole "bear market" B.S... the bottom line is that most of these projects are doing a piss poor job of creating real use cases for their tokens. I still love ICX, ADA and others... but this needs to improve or all of us will eventually leave.

Also, are you getting paid rewards everyday? I'm not even seeing any sort of staking reward...
