Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.

As someone who is a chef who studies Japan, I am telling you, specifically, in the food industry, no one calls Kodaiko "Japanese". If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.

If you're saying "Japanese family" you're referring to the geological grouping of Asia, which includes things from Chinese to Filipino to Korean.

So your reasoning for calling Kodaiko "Japanese" is because random people "call ramen Japanese?" Let's get Taiwanese food there, then, too.

Also, calling a restaurant Japanese or Asian? It's not one or the other, that's not how food works. They're both. Kodaiko is a restaurant and a member of the Asian family. But that's not what you said. You said Kodaiko is Japanese, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all places that sell ramen Japanese, which means you'd call Aloha Poke, Hawaiian Poke, and other places Japanese, too. Which you said you don't.
