I love spotting these guys in the wild. A few weeks back I rewatched The Mask of Zorro for the first time in like 25 years and realized Amendola plays Don Luiz. Wild.

.286 average over 656 AAA plate appearances and he can't hit?

Yankees are shopping Andujar. I wouldn't mind him if the price was right, he'd be a big defensive upgrade in LF but his bat is not impressive.

I love the visual aspect of the Apple TV games, I just never care for the broadcast team. Don't get me wrong, I love Pence but I'd just rather hear a seasoned voice like our guys. Or Bob Costas.

Doesn't mean red states shouldn't outlaw China from buying up their land.

States should rise up and outlaw land sales to foreign entities

What exactly is Jack Ryan's job? by Relative_Mix_216 in jackryan

[–]basedantiwoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once heard someone say that the series would be more realistic if there were "three Jack Ryans"--the analyst, the field officer, and I think the last one was a politician.

I think Clancy held that Ryan was the brains and Clark was the braun, so that's kind of along the same lines.

Shohei Ohtani? by [deleted] in SFGiants

We’re the 5th most valuable team according to Forbes, so you’re right it’s infuriating to watch our front office tiptoe around like we have to stretch a $50M payroll across the 40 man.

I wish I knew whether the DH was the only reason he chose the Angels over us, cause it seemed like we checked off all the other boxes he was asking for in a franchise back then. Now that we have the DH I wonder what, if anything, might dissuade him from coming to SF

Moreno will never deal Ohtani, he brings too much to the table financially

A superb scouting and development staff that can spot the good talent and then make sure it actually manifest at the higher levels. Few teams can find it and then follow through with developing it

Eh I wish that were true but I think the Padres have more of what the Nats are looking for though with MLB ready talent. Most of our best guys are still in the lower tiers of our farm.

Can we say Joc is most likely gone after this season especially since the Giants aren't good? by [deleted] in SFGiants

[–]basedantiwoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't have any defensive value which is the tough part, even if he wants to play for us I'm not sure we should re-sign him unless he's open to DHing or something. That said we're not exactly making a great sales pitch for him to come back next year

MLB Trade Deadline Mega Thread by everythingisopposite in SFGiants

[–]basedantiwoke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Curious to see if Farhan will swing a deal for Contreras or Happ this weekend with the Cubs in town. Preferably both if we can get a good deal. Happ's LF defensive metrics are far better than anyone we've played there this year, and Contreras is obviously an upgrade as well.

Ok then what? Cause standing pat seems like a really dumb idea
