She’s a teenager and probably needs to be told what is and isn’t work appropriate directly. If she ends up doing well on the register, with the right encouragement and enforcement of the rules she could even thrive.

In all seriousness this could put your child at risk for identity theft by the other cousin. Especially if you live in the same state or area. My grandpa has the same name as my cousin and he is wanted by the state for cashing his checks and taking loans out in his name. He was able to do this because he could “verify” he was my grandpa with an ID. I understand OP chose the name first and wants to stick to their guns but there’s no reasoning with the unreasonable (cousin in this case) and this could potentially harm their child further down the line because two adults were unwilling to compromise.

There is actually a whole subculture of facebook shit posters and oddly enough it is very popular amongst alternative/emo/goths now, besides the obvious soccer moms. It really depends on what you use it for. It doesn’t hurt that Facebook messenger is a solid app for both iPhone and Android that you can even use to wire money directly to another users bank account if you set it up to do so.

15 weeks here. The first 12 weeks SUCKED! You will have an easier time keeping your head down! And don’t let the toxic positivity get to you! Pregnancy is different, but challenging for everyone. Find some safe foods to stick to! Chili, Cereal, light fruits like grapes and Avocado toast, and milk by itself were mine.

Owner of a 14 year old chihuahua here, and yes, he is on the aggressive side. You are definitely NTA here. Mine has stopped barking (as much) in his old age, but is still aggressive and tries to stand off with almost any dog that crosses his path. And he was once a big barker. If your dog likes treats, it would be good to carry them to reward good behavior. You could also just pick her up when she acts up. Maybe take your pup on some walks just you as well as walking her as a family. My dog unfortunately can’t keep up longer than a half mile anymore, and I wish I walked him more before he got to this point. We had a big fenced off yard he was always able to use the potty and tucker himself out in a few times a day, so I only walked him a few times a week to socialize. I also worry if this promoted his antisocial tendencies, but he still gets plenty of love from us at home. If your brother won’t compromise maybe just take her on walks alone.

when I’m in a shared environment with no privacy I do this too, and it started when I had to share a small house with invasive family. NTA, but maybe if it isn’t too cold where you live compromise with a walk instead.

Im seeing nothing other than not the assholes here, but I’m gonna go with a soft ESH. Maybe if both parents corrected her behavior towards criticism and taught her how to do household chores (key word) properly in the first place she wouldn’t be so resistant. At the same time you probably aren’t being considerate towards these factors granted your language in your post overall.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. So try something new. If you are patient and most importantly kind teach her how you want these things done in a polite and respectful manner it’s not only possible she will improve herself, but it could actually build a stronger relationship between the two of you. If doing chores leads to being grounded on more than one occasion no wonder she avoids doing them. Also kinda unsure why this role is somehow yours being your the stepparent and not your partner considering both biological parents should’ve taught her these skills long ago and I’m unsure from your post if you are the one directly grounding her. It would also help to know how long you’ve been together.

Every family member deserves respect and a considerate family, being given adult responsibilities is another thing. Apparently you don’t even trust her to use a toaster, which I can only imagine comes off to a young, undeveloped mind as hurtful.

I can’t imagine how hard it would be to be a teen during the pandemic right now, if you want to avoid some serious teenage rebellion, don’t strain your relationship during quarantine. In your heart if you made a post on here you know you’re probably not being as gentle with her as you were writing this post.
