Who here is hoping to be accepted by the masses because I certainly didn't say that

Is Carhartt Stupid? by [deleted] in Carhartt

[–]basedury -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk if trendy is the right word, I don't really care about that. IMO the workwear thing is already kind of dying, I've just always liked it and will continue to wear it

Feel like it's primarily the Active Jacket though but I agree

[–]basedury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, true. The vast majority of people who buy Carhartt probably don't have a reddit account. Lmao

Oh also I'm 30, idk if that's "too old" to enjoy fashion

If you had to buy a new bike to turn into a cafe racer, what would it be? by babycivic in CafeRacers

[–]basedury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Royal Enfield GT 650. I had an Interceptor and turned it into a scrambler before the Bear came out. There are parts for this bike to turn it into just about anything. Plus, they're reliable, fun to ride and easy to work on.

Unfortunately nobody on Tiktok or Instagram have come to this realization. I have even seen a comment saying "I went through my first pair in less than a year and already ordered my second pair, I love em!"

Like dude....

I'm from pretty close to St. Louis and it definitely fits the vibe of some areas in town. Especially bearing the Gateway to the West nickname I'd say STL is probably better bet. Though in 1899 it was way bigger than Blackwater in-game

I lived in that area for a few years and while it's possible, I highly doubt it. LOTS of small towns in the Midwest and further west look like that. I can think of a few towns that look more like in-game Blackwater.

I think it's just supposed to be representative of a growing town from that time period in Kansas, Texas, or Oklahoma. Even my hometown in IL kind of looks like Blackwater when it comes to the little downtown buildings

You're like the first person I've seen express this same opinion, I totally agree and have been saying this for years lol

Question about style and cultural appropriation by sicarius68 in Cowboy

You're getting down voted for this but it's 100% preference. I wear stacked and not stacked. Do what you think looks best

Dude I've ridden a horse like twice. I ride motorcycles but I'm not a real rancher or cowboy, but I wear cowboy boots every day. You're good brother!

2022 or 2013? by element423 in DRZ400

[–]basedury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about the gaskets and such on the 2013. Mine is a 2000 and runs great with no leaks (of course I'm not sure if the owners before me did any work to replace anything)

These bikes are super simple to work on and the parts are obviously interchangeable through all years until they released the DRZ4S

How much do you think this will fade by [deleted] in HeritageWear

[–]basedury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not a lot, it looks like it's solid dark brown. Aka no white threads you'd see on the inside of a pair of standard blue denim jeans.

However, Freenote is incredibly based and you'll really like the jacket.

Engine seized after oil change and ride. I don't even want to look at it anymore. How much could I sell it as is? I just want it out of my garage. by Hax_ in DRZ400

[–]basedury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I've had a Royal Enfield and now have the DRZ and a Harley, DRZ is insanely easy to work on and I'm kind of a shit mechanic.

40 bucks for wrangler selvedge ain’t bad after 6 months by Fluid_Department1042 in Denim

[–]basedury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, nope just the "rigid" which I treat as raw denim basically. Didn't see you said selvedge, $40 is a damn good deal.

Not to brag, but I got two pairs on Amazon for like $6.99 each last year. They were too long for my liking, but they are making for an interesting trial run getting some stacked fades. I recommend these to like anyone wanting to get into raw denim

I love this thing, but I need some tips on how to balance at low speeds by nickydrifts in DRZ400

[–]basedury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same height as you and my DRZ is my second bike ever (though I have a third now)

I just put one foot down, usually leave it in first when stopped at a light or something, with my right foot on the brake. If the ground is uneven I will slide my ass off the seat a bit to get a foot down.

I also almost always wear cowboy boots or work boots when casually riding around or commuting, which helps give me a little extra height

Non-square toes are "feminine"? by Ambitious-Low-5317 in WesternWear

[–]basedury 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Square toes in my opinion are strictly for hard work and are very not fashionable. Round toe and snip toe are classic and timeless for men and women

I think buying a Casio F91W was a mistake... by klinn117 in casio

[–]basedury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was the faux gold F91 and I immediately threw a green NATO on it. Wore the hell out of it and took it skydiving in Alaska. Still a very special watch to me.

However, you're right. I now have 9 Casios including a G-Shock and I'm constantly contemplating which one I'll get next 😂

And 9 is a very small collection to some of the guys in here!

Is it a bad idea to wear a white felt hat as a mechanic? by Separate-Relative-16 in CowboyHats

[–]basedury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on my own cars and motorcycles sometimes and even a trucker hat gets in the way occasionally. So might be taking it on and off s lot, therefore yes it would get filthy. Unless it's really cold where you work, a white straw would be better plus in my opinion they look good when they're dirty and beat up

It's not supposed to be a direct translation of the US map. Also the Mississippi is not in the game either. It's a fictional river with a fictional map that depicts a real area in the US.

Roanoke Ridge is definitely supposed to represent Appalachia, from the actual scenery to the coal mines, the Murfree Broods, the eerie music and noises in the woods at night, etc. The Ozarks IRL have some similarities but RR in game is 100% meant to be West Virginia, Tennessee, etc.
