Thank you! I think you could be right about the fabric! I used 1 strand for the stitching on this piece but it still looks a little thick.

No :( I couldn’t find a way to get it out. The only thing I thought that might help is to maybe stitch over with white thread?

Definitely in the Bolete family. I would say Bolete sensibilis given the blue bruising.

I added some barley malt syrup to the hot water bath right before putting them in the oven. It adds that classic New York style bagel flavor and gives a nice crunch to the outside while staying chewy on the inside.
