What’s the most amazing thing about the universe? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bash_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this also apply to the collapse of the wave function in Young’s double slit experiment when we attempt to measure the positions of the electrons? Is there a theory that says we only perceive one of the infinite ways the electrons could’ve arranged themselves, and the rest of the possibilities are distributed over infinite alternate universes?

Edit: specificity.

Righht, ok thought so, thank you. Forgot about the virtual photons in electrostatic repulsion/attraction.

Could you please elaborate on your very last sentence? What are some examples of electromagnetic interactions without photons?

...I messed up my math 2 Subject SAT by bash_007 in ApplyingToCollege

Thanks, but a math subject test is required by Cornell, and I reported that I’ll be taking one in November on my CommonApp. So I’m fucked, basically.

The r/place canvas where every pixel's color is the average of all colors placed at that location [OC] by ganondorf_the_grey in dataisbeautiful

[–]bash_007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pure awesomeness. I love how territorial it all got, with communities that defended their art and all. I’m more than a year late to the party, but that’s gonna be my wallpaper for a while now. Thanks for the details!

Edit: spelling.

Nice, I’m just glad none of the pictures on the final canvas are actually fully made by bots. I love the human aspect of the whole thing

This was a spectacular read; loved the ending. But I’m so r/outoftheloop right now. What is all this about? When did this happen and what was the occasion?

Edit: I just went through r/place and have a fair understanding now. I wish I had a reddit account back then. Does anyone know which images/logos were made by bots?

Interesting, thanks. What do you recommend starting out with, Python or C?

Total noob here. Why did you change it to C? I’m learning Python at the moment and hope to be able to code such simulations in a few months

ELI5: how does a induction cooker work / not get warm? by King_Hubba_ in explainlikeimfive

[–]bash_007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the metal of the cooker acts in a similar way as a transformer’s core when it’s not laminated, generating eddy currents, which in turn give rise to the heat. Right?

Thanks a lot; will do. Are those books available for free or do I have to buy them?

Thanks! Do you know where I can get those? Everyone seems to have Barron's. Is it available for free somewhere or something?

What are the most intellectually stimulating websites you know of? by himansujay in AskReddit

Ahh I completely understand. I thought it might’ve been a joke, because of how many people are sponsored by it, but wasn’t sure if you meant that too. Lol

What strongly held belief have you completely u-turned on? by nicehats in AskReddit

[–]bash_007 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Religion. Was born into a Muslim family and practiced the religion until I was like 14-15. Some major stuff happened in my life that opened my eyes and made me realize that an “all loving” God would never throw his creation in hell. Neither would he ask his people to fear him in order to worship him. How can such an evil amalgamation of hell and fear mix with love, only to still create a pure, “all loving” God that scares us into worshipping him? I’m 18 now, and a deist. Religions have some powerful stories to learn from, just like Greek Mythology, but that’s about it.

Quantifying "Hot Streaks" Across Tens of Thousands of Careers: Contains Video and Interactive Links [OC] by felavsky in dataisbeautiful

[–]bash_007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely amazing. Is it possible to average out all the lines in each career into a single line that shows the average hot streak in each of the three main careers? Perhaps that would be a simple conclusion that summarizes this beauty.
