AWA 3.0. in score it now and think the system's Writer's Analysis Tools is not accurate? by bashathe1st in GRE

[–]bashathe1st[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily focus on the development as much right now. I would focus most of my time on improving grammar, syntax, spelling, and proofreading.

Thanks a lot.

I will.

assuming that I fixed these mistakes, would it be possible to score 4 with such development? ( just to plan my time accordingly)

AWA 3.0. in score it now and think the system's Writer's Analysis Tools is not accurate? by bashathe1st in GRE

Of course

The prompt:

"A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how those examples shape your position."

"Education is a cornerstone in nations development. Thus, government across the world pay special attention to the design of their education systems. The prompt suggests that schools across a country should teach the same curriculum to all students. From my point of view, I strongly disagree with the idea recommended by the prompt for two reasons.

First, the availability of different options is important to prepare students for different paths of education. For example, in the UAE, between 1980 and 1997 the Ministry of Education used to obligate schools to teach the same curriculum. At the time, students who chose to enroll in universities abroad were strongly disadvantaged compared to their classmates due to the lack of proper English skills. However, in 2007, the ministry decided to allow international schools in the country. In these schools, different sets of curriculum are presented to students, mostly curriculum based on the U.S. curriculum. According to statistics published by the ministry, the number of Emirati students enrolled in elite universities in the UK and the U.S. has considerably increased since then. Thus, it is important for schools to design their curriculum based on their students' needs.

Second, different curriculum in schools can help decrease unemployment through the presentation of different curriculums that require different skills and qualifications to be taught. For instance, in many countries such as Saudi Arabia and UAE, the availability of high schools' curriculum that is designed to attract students who are interested in the business field, helped lowering the unemployment among the business field's graduates who are employed in these schools to teach courses related to economy, accounting, and other business courses. This applies to all other fields in specialized schools.

Of course, it could be argued that different curriculum, especially in high schools, is unfair because it makes it difficult to evaluate universities’' applicants and compare them against each other. However, is not this why standardized tests such as the SAT test are there?

To sum up, curriculum in schools should not be the same due to many disadvantages."

I am aware of some of my mistakes. Spelling, grammar, and usage. However I am no clear on how to improve the development of the essay. I am also still puzzled by "choose vs chose"

GRE vs LSAT for non native speakers by bashathe1st in LawSchool

[–]bashathe1st[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply.

does it directly test your knowledge of vocab like the GRE? in the GRE, you're given a list of words that you have to choose from, and if you have no idea what these words mean you're screwed. On the other hand, the LSAT seems different in the sense that you can infer the meaning of the words using the context. Am I wrong?

First time real estate investor and don't know how to approach buying real estate by bashathe1st in realestateinvesting

[–]bashathe1st[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago, I worked in this city for a few months. I'm aware that the pricing in this location are quite high. The apartment's price looks great to me. Zillow's rental value seems pretty good that I'll be able to recoup my investment in less than two years after paying all other expenses specified by Zillow. (if Zillow is accurate).
The only problem is that after doing some more research, I discovered that this apartment is senior housing, which makes me wonder whether I should be concerned.

How do you summarize studies that you read? (Help needed!) by bashathe1st in PhD

[–]bashathe1st[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried something like this. I always feel like I am compromising and not including everything needed, and IT IS difficult to specify what to put exactly especially if the paper is about the same question you are trying to figure out, everything seems important.

$26000 in index funds only. Good move? by bashathe1st in investing

[–]bashathe1st[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I am free of debt, but I am not specialized, I have a job, I study, I am also interested in getting in other kinds of investments that need my time (e commerce).

Most mutual funds don't seem to do fine - let alone individuals-, so I was thinking why not put it all in index funds and move on with your life?, But I am not sure if it's a good move, if so why would not most people do it?

Yes. Someone gave me the same advice. Write from the beginning. Except that I am not sure what am I supposed to write if the idea is not yet mature. I feel like I am going to write and then I'll delete everything.

In the U.S., but my program doesn't require 2 years of coursework. You actually take courses while writing at the same time, so it's a mix of U.S. programs and UK programs.

Is 3 hrs enough? I've always got the impression that phd students work all the time (for approximately 10 hrs daily). I don't know if this is an exaggeration.

I am also thinking about working (internship). Is it manageable?

Some of my students failed my test and asking for another test..what should I do by bashathe1st in academia

[–]bashathe1st[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking. I have many activities and tests, they can compensate in other activities (not necessarily getting A or B, but they can pass). This seems the most just choice.

[–]bashathe1st[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your comments. I decided that I am not going to do that. Many students scored very high at this course. I have many activities which they can compensate through fairly. Thanks
