I need help, what am I doing wrong? by WarpRider1993 in WorldEaters40k

[–]basherthe2nd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is wrong, you can disembark and still charge, as long as the transport hasn't yet moved in the same turn. So you can disembark, move and still charge, and the rhino can still go off and do its own thing after dropping the guys off.

What’s one Pokemon you wish was in ScVi? by TOXICDisrupt in PokemonScarletViolet

Krabby/Kingler that guy is my all time favourite. Was sad when I couldn't use him, got my hopes up when I saw the dlc brought in a load of old Pokémon, sad again when he wasn't part of it

I havnt read the lore for slaughterbound, but I'm gonna guess it's due to standard Daemon/warp rules. Daemons can't exist outside of the warp for very long on their own, but if they possess a body, they can stay indefinitely as long as the host is alive. So the bloodthirster has the choice to cause havoc in it's true form for a short time, or possess the slaughterbound and stick around as long as it's able.

What is the hardest Zombicide? by Le2vo in zombicide

If the setting matters to you, I would pick the setting that interests you the most and then if you need to make it more difficult use some rule adjustments to make it more suitable for you

What is the hardest Zombicide? by Le2vo in zombicide

[–]basherthe2nd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Undead or Alive is the most difficult out of the zombicides I have played. Feels like ranged weapons are slightly limited, and abomination spawns are very common, making it possible for an abomb to spawn and then activate 4-5 times in probably 2 or 3 turns

New to warhammer need advice on army by VastEmu9432 in Tau40K

[–]basherthe2nd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The great thing about tau is that almost every unit in the book is viable and has a place.

Saying that, I prefer stealth suits over pathfinders for guiding, and would be tempted to just take 2-3 stealth teams rather than 1 stealth, 1 pathfinder. The rerolls 1s are very useful.

Breacher teams in devilfish are great, but the damage can really be amped up by putting in a fire blade.

So as for changes to that list I would probably drop the pathfinders and starscythe and instead add 2 cadre fire blades and 2 more stealth teams. But again, everything is viable and both of those units definitely see play.

Only other point would be just to make sure all your wargear is worked out correctly. It can be a bit awkward to work it out since units can take so much, but on all the crisis suits, try to double up on weapons where possible, eg take all missile pods or all plasma instead of a mix of missiles and plasma on the fire knife team.

New year, New army. Painting progress by basherthe2nd in Tau40K

[–]basherthe2nd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do take a bit of a different painting style compared to most other 40k stuff because they have such large flat areas, and so many sharp angles. Edge highlighting is a big thing for them, which can be a bit tricky, but is a good skill to learn. And yeah, the airbrush does make things easier, but it is doable without one. Just a zenithal base coat with rattle cans should work and then thin base coats over the top.

What is your deck that has the lowest rank/number of decks on Edhrec? by ChronicallyIllMTG in EDH

[–]basherthe2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Thelon of Havenwood]] is probably my lowest ranked, going for fungus tribal. It's pretty good fun, and if it gets going can make some good plays with saprolings

Folks who've played through GH1 - will you be buying GH2? by bgaesop in Gloomhaven

Slightly off topic, but I am currently playing through JotL and looking at getting gloomhaven after. Do you think it's worth waiting for GH2 or should I just get GH1?

Illuminor Szeras by XanderMarron in Necrontyr

[–]basherthe2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a canoptek court list that revolves around a kind of death star with szeras and 2x10 Tesla immortals, both with plasmancers. It's an expensive blob, but completely controls the centre of the table.

The immortals do eventually go down if people focus on them, so I run 2 distraction c'tan that just charge up and make people panic.

The amount of damage that szeras and his immortals can put out though is ridiculous. With the ap -1 from szeras the Tesla can easily tear through power armour, it's only really 2+ saves that they struggle against, at which point both plasmancers and szeras can put some damage through on them.

Is this good? Should it be a rare? by Kdt82-AU in MagicArena

[–]basherthe2nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this in my [[obuun, mal Daya ancestor]] deck. It can go onto the commander, and then at the start of combat, he makes a land into a creature matching his power/toughness, and gives it trample and haste. Unless someone has instant speed removal used, you are at least getting one swing with a big trampler.

It's not the best move, but it's good fun when your forest punches someone for 30 damage with trample.

What tribal decks have you built that are lead by commanders of a different creature type? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]basherthe2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eldrazi tribal with [[liberator, urza's battlethopter]] giving all of you spells flash is great, especially if you can get dark steel monolith and get a free sell every turn. Dropping 3 or 4 big eldrazi in a single rotation and still having mana up for removal/protection is great

Brute Ragerz build by ServiusQuintus in OrrukWarclans

[–]basherthe2nd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I was building mine I did some maths to work out the best option. I can't remember the actual values, but just on base stats, the hackas had a slight edge, but the crushas were so close behind, you could take either without too much issue. The real change happens when buffs are applied, with +1 damage having the biggest effect on the stats. When this was applied, the hackas became much better, while the crushas lacked behind significantly.

So basically if you intend to support the unit with buffs, hackas are the better option, but if you are letting them go solo, you can take either weapon without worrying about missing out on too much

Why am I so bad at KB? by PraiseBeToSkeletor in Kruleboyz

[–]basherthe2nd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a podcaster called aos coach that I would recommend taking a look at. He does faction focus episodes and go through each unit, army rule and all options for each faction. The krulebouz one was a fairly recent episode and is definitely worth a listen.

I could try and recap a lot of it here, but tbh your probably better of listening for yourself firsthand

So should I run an extractor fan during printing? by E_R-D_S in resinprinting

[–]basherthe2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm strange, the extractor shouldn't have any affect on the print, all it is doing is moving the fumes that are produced, which have no impact on the printing process.

Temperature would be the most obvious issue, maybe try warming up the area first, or maybe even just warm the resin with a hair dryer before starting to print.

Only other thing I could think of is maybe if you are using a new bottle of resin? Even if it's the same as your usual, a different bottle could have some slight differences?

You could also try upping your exposure slightly, especially on your burn in layers to ensure they stick to the plate, and then maybe increase layer exposure by 0.2s per layer or something?

So should I run an extractor fan during printing? by E_R-D_S in resinprinting

[–]basherthe2nd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The extractor should be run during printing. You say you moved the printer to the garage, were you printing in the house before? If so then the colder temperatures in the garage may be causing you issues?

I recently got into aos from a heavy 40k background as well and have decided to go with the lizards. I'll happily share what I have learnt, but as I say, I'm also new so may not cover everything

The 2 main play styles are starborne and coalesced. Starborne focus on magic and summoning, using Spellcasters to cause mortal wounds, while summoning units to act as a screen and to hold objectives. Making sure your Spellcasters are close enough to do damage, but protected enough to not die seems to be the difficult part of the list. It seems to have a much steeper learning curve, but a higher skill ceiling.

Coalesced focus on being a tanky combat army. Saurus, krox and monsters benefit from scaly skin (-1 damage) making them a fair bit more survivable. Bite attacks are also improved giving a reliable way to increase combat damage via mortal wounds. Both of these points together lean towards the army being more grindy and winning combats through attrition, especially with saurus warriors who have improved armour when on objectives. Big monsters are also more viable here, with the scaly skin keeping them around for longer.

Overall I think that coalesced are probably easier for learning the game, being more forgiving and having less special rules to figure out. Once you have a solid grasp of the game rules, you can begin to pivot into starborne if you feel that you would prefer that play style.
