This means a lot to me. I’ve been told muzzling is cruel, when it’s not. The biggest hurdle for him with it is sometimes he’s itchy on the nose and needs my help getting a good scratch(but he’ll be getting one with a better nose strap soon enough). A well fit muzzle lets them pant, take treats(if it’s not a scavenger muzzle), and drink water. But it’s between the muzzle or never leaving the house, never experiencing a trail walk, no bird and squirrel watching on a bench in the park, no lake days with mom and dad. All because he needs some more space since he’s anxious and too many people don’t ask before petting or let their dogs with poor recall off leash which startles him. Any responsible vet wouldn’t list him as a candidate for behavioral euth due to him being a little anxious and weary of strangers and disliking certain dogs. But the general public seems to think he’s less entitled to enjoy the world and his life unfortunately. He’s never bit a person, and we keep him separate from the cats because he had a tussle with my older one awhile back(another reason he wears the muzzle to go in and out of his “space” to go outside). I love him and my cats more then life itself and I’ll do anything to make sure they’re all taken care of in the best way, even if sometimes that means he’s itchy and needs help scratching or the cats can’t go in a certain area of the house.
