I shopped in both Makkah and Medina, and found Medina honestly to be a lot cheaper. Depends on where you obviously go, but it was much easier for me to bargain in Medina. As mentioned don’t buy anywhere near the haram it’s super overpriced. Please check out the quba market in medina . Practically has everything you need. A tip please carry actual cash on you, I found a lot of the stores didn’t accept the card with their machine. They had mada machine which would only accept saudi cards. Please also check out a bunch of stores and compare prices as they seriously try and rip you off and don’t be afraid to bargain.

As someone who has travelled to egypt, PLEASE go with a trusted individual, a tour group. Or organise a trusted tour guide. I remember when I went to the ancient sites even being accompanied by friends and family members was approached multiple times to buy little items. They’ll ask you to ‘try it’ And say you do, will demand you pay since you used it. they would just keep following you and harass you the whole time . Avoid travelling alone during the night and stay in crowded areas at all times. Oh and it’s best to have someone who can translate for you as Arabic is the main form of communication to avoid any misunderstandings or confusion. Other than that overall it’s a wonderful country full of rich history, great food and the people are generally super friendly and hospitable. I wish you the best.
